The primary site for engine design and development work is at our Niagara Falls location. This is the preferred site for this position. Consideration will be given to other company locations in East Aurora NY, Golden CO, Mountain View CA, Chatsworth CA, Gilbert AZ or Huntsville AL. Travel to Niagara Falls will be required if the individual resides in one of these other sites.
This position is a subject matter expert-level role, operating as a member of the Niagara Falls Propulsion Engineering team. The expectation is the incumbent has experience working on space hardware, particularly rocket engines and propulsion systems compatible with green propellant (ex. ASCENT, LMP-103S, Hydrogen peroxide and other green or low-toxicity liquid mono- and bi-propellants). The ideal candidate would have been a significant part of and/or led successful design and development of engines, components, and propulsion systems compatible with green propellant. Additionally, the candidate possesses technical knowledge regarding common green propellants such as those above and their chemistry and has an ability to apply his/her expertise in rocket engine design and scientific theory to the design process.
Responsibilities:
Lead and/or contribute to the overall engine and propulsion system design and analysis necessary to support customer missions that use green propellants.
The primary mode of operation is the incumbent provides technical oversight and guidance to the team of engineers executing the project, however based on needs of the business, the incumbent may be asked to be part of the project execution team.
Application engineer company standard products to meet new mission requirements.
Plan the overall test campaign necessary to demonstrate compliance to customer requirements.
Mentor and coach other engineers in the design of various components compatible with green propellant.
Participate in trade shows and write or contribute to the generation of conference papers.
