Job purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Global Manufacturing Engineer. The Global Manufacturing Engineer responsible for providing technical manufacturing leadership and plant support in the development and launch of electric drives, e-motors and power electronics to support the electrification growth within Power Drive Systems. GME’s work as part of a cross-functional team with Technical Product Leaders, Program Management, Product Engineering, Product Design, Launch Managers, SME’s and Lab Technicians to ensure that the manufacturing processes are properly validated for ease of manufacturing and to meet customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
  • Responsible for assisting and developing manufacturing cost estimates for business cases
  • Facilitating / Participating in DFM/DFA workshops
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures
  • Identification and closure of safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigating findings, hazards, and controls, GSSF actions) and their corrective actions
  • Lead projects from concept through launch
  • Manage project time-lines and project deliverables
  • Develop solutions to manufacturability issues of new products
  • Work with Build technicians and SMEs on initial customer & validation samples
  • Ensure manufacturing best practices and lessons learned are implemented into new designs
  • Develop innovative processes for global implementation
  • Work with GSM to identify World Class machine suppliers that can support global implementation and deliver robust systems
  • Develop flexible manufacturing systems specification to meet internal & customer requirements
  • Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) / SAT (Sight Acceptance Test) and PPAP process
  • Work with Product, Quality and Plant engineering to identify root causes of manufacturing related issue
  • Travel up to 30% both domestically and internationally
What we’re looking for
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or Technology equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience required in Automotive manufacturing or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of vehicle system level components and functions
  • Manufacturing experience in Electric & Hybrid systems preferred
  • Solid understanding of engineering financials (Cap-Ex planning and equipment costing)
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing
  • Creative & Innovative process developer
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing
  • Analytical with strong problem-solving skills a plus (8D, Shainin, or Six sigma)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word, Project)
  • Design tools (Solid works, ProE or AutoCAD)
  • Ability to work effectively across functional and geographical boundaries
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Work under limited supervision
