GHC – HomeSafe – Procurement Specialist

HomeSafe Alliance is the single global household goods movement manager for USTRANSCOM and the U.S. Armed Forces, Department of Defense civilians, U.S. Coast Guard, and their families.

HomeSafe Alliance is seeking highly skilled and motivated Procurement Specialist responsible for purchasing diversified commodities to support the movement of military household goods, ensuring timeliness and maintaining accurate vendor/department records.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews requisitions, purchase orders, and vouchers for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures.

Sourcing suppliers and maintaining long-lasting relationships with them as well as existing suppliers.

Negotiating price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers. Working with legal counsel to ensure that all contracts relating to product procurement contain all details of the negotiation.

Develop and implement a sourcing plan by commodity that incorporates prior trends, lead times, cost reduction opportunities, and technological advances.

Process purchase requisitions for customer orders in a timely manner and resolve any material shortages.

Prepares RFP solicitation, solicits and receives bids, evaluates and performs price analysis.

Resolve questions and disputes between HomeSafe subcontractors and Accounts Payable, shipping, receiving, etc.

Implement and monitor appropriate measurement systems to evaluate supplier performance.

Expedites purchase orders and discusses defects and delivery problems with suppliers and is responsible for negotiating refunds.

Support management in the purchasing department as well as other functional areas of the company. Coordinates with customers to ensure proper scheduling and movement of goods and supplies.

Monitor market trends (price movements) for commodity items to allow HomeSafe to take advantage of price reductions or limit the exposure to price increases.

Develop alternative sources of supply to be used as in emergencies, during periods of tight supply, and as leverage to improve current supplier’s performance.

Ability to travel in US and internationally

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field.

Minimum two years’ experience in a procurement role required.

FAR and DFARS experience a plus

Experience in

Logistics/Transportation

a plus

Excellent math skills.

Proven experience in sourcing processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
