Dogtopia is the fastest-growing national franchise of doggie daycares. We provide dog daycare, overnight boarding, grooming, and spa services. Ours was the first to open in Ohio, in 2019. You will be joining an organization where a lot of the learning, technology, and resources are available to you from the franchise.

Our outgoing GM has been with us for almost four years, literally since before we opened. She developed us into one of the most successful daycares in Columbus. And while we’re sad she is leaving to start her own company, we support her success and are grateful that she plans to stay on to recruit and train her replacement. The candidate selected for this role will be trained by the best!!!

This job can require a lot of extra time on nights and weekends. You are managing a staff of 15-20 people at any given time and there are a lot of demands with having animals under your care. The right candidate needs to be able to keep up with the demands of this job and deal with high stress situations.

The GM also needs to be willing to get their hands dirty and support back-of-house operations however needed, including filling in for shifts where you're on your feet and moving for long periods. This is by no means a hands-off management job. You will be involved in the day-to-day of the business, as well as responsible for overall sales, growth and marketing. The right candidate needs to be comfortable with a wide array of responsibilities involved in this role.

What does Dogtopia’s GM do?

  • Recruit, train, and develop Assistant Managers, Sales Managers, Trainers, Canine Coaches, Front Desk Staff, and Rovers
  • Work with the owner and Sales Manager to drive sales and dog visit frequency
  • Manage staff schedules for weekday and weekend operations
  • Schedule and run in-store events (snack days, holidays, birthday parties, photo events)
  • Schedule and run external marketing events
  • Manage Social Media marketing on Instagram and Facebook
  • Talk to and work with Pet Parents
  • Organize payroll (missed punches, timesheet corrections, etc.)
  • Purchase office supplies, playroom materials, etc.
  • Work with the store owner on other top projects
  • Manage customer service
  • Supporting operations however needed, including covering shifts
  • And more! There's is no "it wasn't in the job description" in this role

In addition, you will be flown to Phoenix, Arizona periodically for training and the Dogtopia Conference!

What kind of experience is required?

  • Hiring and managing people.
  • Maintaining and changing schedules in fast-paced environments. This isn’t a typical office job. If someone calls in sick, someone else still needs to take care of the dogs.
  • Developing people and delegating responsibilities to them. We promote internally.
  • Basic timecard management. We can teach you how to use our payroll system.
  • P.O.S. software for scheduling, purchases, etc. Ours is called PetExec.
  • Social Media marketing experience. People love to see their dogs on Instagram!

How will you be paid? A base salary based on your experience level, plus bonuses paid based on financial performance.

Benefits? As a small, family-owned business, we cannot offer health insurance, but we do pay a monthly stipend for the GM to purchase their own insurance. Candidates may choose a self-funded 401k plan.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
