Barrier Island Brewing is seeking a General Manager who has passion for food and beverage as well as the Golden Isles to helm our burgeoning micro-brewery. Since we opened our doors in October of 2019, we have been laser-focused on growth and expansion both as a restaurant and a brewery. If you have the same drive and ambition as we do to provide 5-star service under all conditions, then we are looking for you!


The position of General Manager at Barrier Island Brewing is not your typical management position; we are poised to expand our brewing process, have become a popular event venue, and hope to expand our live music bookings and house-hosted events. We have a dynamic and ever-changing food & craft cocktail menu. As our GM, you will have a hand in all this and more and should be both willing and able to help coordinate all the moving parts that make BIB work!

A General Manager candidate for Barrier Island Brewing must be self-motivated, an experienced team leader that our outstanding staff (in both front and back of the house) can depend on, possess a charismatic floor presence, and boast a passion for 5-star service to ensure all guests leave with their best experience yet!

You will oversee, on a daily basis: customer service needs, team member enjoyment, food costs and quality, labor percentages, and more, all executed to the highest standards in a busy environment.

Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Reviewing monthly food costs and making necessary adjustments to increase revenue

  • Analyzing and costing the menu quarterly, utilizing relevant data and spreadsheets

  • Observing appropriate service processes are followed by staff and that said processes are streamlined for maximum efficiency.

  • Identifying and suggesting opportunities for improvement in all areas

  • Forecasting sales and creating weekly schedules to support business

  • Being able to perform all jobs in the restaurant (in both front and back of house), and a willingness to work wherever is needed

  • Being able to conduct a smooth opening, shift-change and/or closing to ensure the restaurant is continues to serve customers at the highest standard

  • Advertising and driving up new business, coming up with promotions and events to help the business evolve

  • Properly staffing the front and back of the house (including handling callouts or no-shows)

  • Welcoming new hires and ensuring they receive timely and sufficient training which sets them up for success

  • Communicating well with all management and employees and serving as a teammate to the kitchen staff

  • Helping staff to address difficult circumstances and minimizing stress in a busy environment

  • Overseeing that all team members are fulfill their job duties

  • Conducting reviews and coaching sessions with team members according to schedule or developmental needs

  • Serving as a brand ambassador with a floor presence that ensures every customer receives an excellent experience, compelling them to return

  • Ensuring the team member experience is fun, safe, and enriching

  • Being detail oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Capability to make quick and appropriate decisions

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years management experience (open for discussion with the right applicant). Experience should include complete operation of a full-service restaurant with responsibility for financial results

  • Proficiency in food costing, labor projections, profit and loss statements, advertising and promotions

  • Experience overseeing a team a fast-paced environment while ensuring that all proper food safety regulations are followed

  • Skilled with ordering and managing inventory

  • Proficiency with waste management and safety inspections
