Summary of Position.

Laborers perform tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects. They may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, loading or unloading materials, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers.

Required Experience.

All applicants are encouraged to apply immediately including those with little to no experience - on the job training available.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

Adaptability to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.) Ability to take direction from supervisors or more experienced workers. Must be able to carry out simple to instructions in a safe and efficient manner.

Physical Requirements.

Repetitive, physical work including: walking, climbing, sitting/standing for long periods, stooping, twisting, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 50 lbs., carrying, and pushing/pulling.

Working Conditions.

Regularly exposed to dusty conditions, extreme temperatures, high noise level, airborne particles, inclement weather conditions, hazardous machinery, precarious places, proximity to other employees. To avoid injury, safety clothing required along with safety devices to protect eyes, head, or hearing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
