The Fuel Logistics Specialist's role lies at the heart of the organization and the Global Fuel Logistics team is one of the key market differentiators for WFS Aviation. It is customer service combined with sales and operational/ sales support for our global customer database. A Fuel Logistics Specialist must have a can-do approach to our customers, who can be calling in from all types of companies and all around the world with different requirements. The Fuel Logistics Specialist needs to understand different cultures and have an empathy for the differing needs of the different types of aircraft operators.
The working day is extremely busy - filled with telephone calls, responding to emails, keeping up to speed with fuel shortages in different regions, and liaising with Sales, Credit, Collections, Supply, Billing and other departments. The Global Fuel Logistics department is seen as an ideal area to grow talent to progress to other areas of the organization.
The Fuel Logistics Specialist needs to feel confident to make calls to prospective customers and to build/develop those relationships and will also be responsible for directly managing some small accounts to grow volume and profitability.
Background and skills:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and making telephone calls
  • Receiving and sending emails (this is a very busy department for email traffic)
  • Arranging fuel for customers worldwide (scheduled and ad-hoc flights), setting up and sending out Sales Orders to appropriate suppliers / airport contacts
  • Dealing with customer price requests for adhoc fuelings, (verbal and written)
  • Managing some small customer accounts – grow volume and profitability
  • Good understanding of company credit policies, working with the Credit Team to ensure fuel is released in accordance with the current Credit Policy
  • Supporting the Sales teams with telephone and price quoting support
  • Working with the Supply teams to develop day-to-day supplier relations
  • Updating database with fuel shortages and other critical operational information
  • Gain a good understanding of company and products/services offered
  • Assisting external and internal customers with pricing and other general queries
  • Visiting trade shows, attending customer or location visits, or working from another WFS office location (potentially) abroad for up to 2 weeks if requested
Required:
  • High School graduate or equivalent (GED or other certificate)
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience, preferably in aviation
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Some limited sales experience is a definite advantage
  • A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to build relationships
  • Great attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Effective and professional telephone manner, commercial awareness and sound business judgement
  • Ability to anticipate issues, work well under pressure and to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to deal with the unexpected, show initiative and work alone at times as required
  • Ambition to grow within a fast-moving organization
  • Current passport holder
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of commercial, business and military aviation fuel market
  • Conversant in aircraft types
  • Experience in Oracle systems
  • Fluent in languages in addition to English
  • Good working knowledge of world geography
