Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Fixed Equipment Engineer to join our team at the Chevron Phillips Sweeny, Clemens, Old Ocean facility. The Fixed Equipment Engineer will lead the resolution of fixed equipment reliability threats, support design for new equipment during capital project execution, and accelerate improvement in equipment reliability. This position will report to the Reliability Superintendent. #HPCP

Responsibilities

  • Complete fitness for service calculations in accordance with API-579 to assess fixed equipment damage and determine need for immediate repair.
  • Support the Inspection and Maintenance organizations in development of inspection and repair plans to address damage to fixed equipment assets.
  • Ensure continued safe, reliable operations for the facility through support of high/emergency priority fixed equipment issues.
  • Support the capital project execution process through equipment design review. Ensure equipment design is in accordance with the Chevron Phillips Engineering Standards.
  • Lead the facility towards a mindset of design/repair for long-term reliability.
  • Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures. This will include collaboration with outside material labs and participating as the subject matter expert in 5-why or why-tree investigation teams.
  • Use the Meridium APM bad actor dashboard for Identification and elimination of fixed equipment bad actors.
  • Review and development of equipment mechanical integrity and reliability work processes and procedures.
  • Support unit damage mechanism reviews and risk-based inspection assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience working in a petrochemical or refining facility.
  • Familiarity with fitness for service calculations and the API-579 fitness for service code.
  • Familiarity with the development of weld repair plans and applicable repair codes including ASME PCC-2 and NBIC.
  • Familiarity with the ASME Section VIII Div. 1, ASME B31.3, and ASME Section IX design and construction codes.
  • Understanding of the application and limitations of industrial NDT methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with API inspection codes, API-510, API-570, API-653, API-580, and API-571.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Meridium APM.
