Our Maryland team is looking for a motivated individual with a strong mechanical background to learn water purification equipment. The Apprentice will receive extensive hands-on training which will prepare the candidate for a role as a Field Service Technician (FST). The Apprentice will be responsible for performing duties consistent with the duties of the FST, which include but are not limited to, performing preventative maintenance, service, installation, repairs, and upgrading equipment. Equipment ranges from small countertop laboratory point-of-use applications to large central systems. Training will be provided for specific applications, equipment, and water testing procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Work with FST to identify problems, assess issues, document findings, and make decisions to repair the product/parts as needed.
  • Assist in organizing and prioritizing daily workload to ensure jobs are completed within the time frame estimated to the customer.
  • Assist in managing inventory daily ensuring reports are completed accurately and submitted within required deadline.
  • Assist FST with providing timely and effective resolution(s) of service issues for residential and commercial customers, including product delivery, installations, and equipment repair.
  • Develop mechanical skills through assisting experienced FST’s, training in-house and in the field.
  • Assist in completing installation and repair water treatment equipment at commercial locations.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with applicable safety guidelines as well as appropriate standard processes.
  • Assist FST with installing water softener systems, purified water systems, UV light systems, water filters and other related equipment.
  • Work with FST to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on a variety of systems including warehouse equipment.
  • Perform service proficiently and effectively on instruments and equipment as requested or initiated by the Service Manager or FST.
  • Maintain company provided service vehicles ensuring it is serviced, clean and neat at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

This position requires knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform work with the assistance of the Field Service Technician.
  • Ability to learn how to perform repairs and water testing procedures
  • Deliver excellent customer service and always represent the Company in a professional manner.
  • Ability to learn how to work with plumbing fixtures, often in tight, confined spaces, having the strength to hold both pipework and pipe fittings.
  • Must be able to organize, manage, and safeguard trucks, stock parts, and tools.
  • Most service work is performed at the customer’s site so regular attendance and timeliness is expected.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and subcontractors in the field, fostering a good working relationship.
  • Must be willing to participate in our pre-and post-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced busy environment.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have a clean driving record and be insurable to drive company vehicles.
