Experienced (Mid-Level) Structural Engineer

KL Engineering has a great opportunity for an experienced mid-level structural engineer who can work out of our Madison, Green Bay, Menomonie, or Germantown offices in a hybrid work environment. We are seeking highly motivated, experienced professionals to join our structural team to work on a variety of important, impactful, and challenging structural projects and assignments from local trail boardwalks to interstate bridges. Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with 5 – 10 years of experience as well as professional certification or licensure (PE). Candidates with non-transportation-related experience are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Prepares structural designs, plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.

§ Assists in the development of bridge rehabilitation and replacement concepts and prepares alternatives and evaluations.

§ Assists with the preparation and review of project reports.

§ Actively participates in quality control of projects.

§ Provides assistance and guidance to engineers and technicians with design tasks.

§ Works within a multi-discipline design team.

§ Learns and stays abreast of structural design standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

§ Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred).

§ 5 – 10 years of experience, with PE license required.

§ Previous experience on structural projects (Transportation and WisDOT experience a plus). including reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and wood.

§ Experience with structural design, analysis, and AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting software.

§ Proficiency with the MS Office Suite software.

§ Demonstrated project or team management experience.

§ Ability to manage projects and staff independently.

§ Demonstrated competency in managing the workflow of other engineers, interns, and designers.

§ Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

§ Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing or virtually.

§ Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail and self-motivation.

§ Ability to identify and establish work priorities while balancing multiple projects.
