Executive Director of Garden House

  • JOB SUMMARY:

The Executive Director oversees administration, programs management, and strategic planning of the 48 bed, EALR/SNALR Garden House Facility.


  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


    • Administers, directs, manages, interprets and coordinates all activities of the EALR/SNALR Garden House to carry out its objectives in keeping with overall policies established by the Board of Directors and in compliance with Department of Social Services and New York State Law.
    • Responsible for the supervision of overall program development to meet the needs of the residents and goals of Weinberg Campus.
    • Initiates and develops policies and procedures; periodically reviews and updates them as necessary.
    • Transmits, interprets, and implements policies established by the Board.
    • Develops and maintains positive effective working relationships with and among committees, board, staff, residents, families, volunteers, contributors and others.
    • Attends Board/Committee meetings as directed by Management and provides staff assistance as required, including sending meeting notices, taking minutes, preparing reports, assistance in preparation of the meeting agenda and other materials needed.
    • Maintains knowledge of, prepares and maintains, necessary reports including those required by State and Federal law, local regulations as well as those requested by management.
    • Recruitment of staff and volunteers as needed. Interviews potential applicants, assists in hires and discharges of associates as needed.
    • Maintains positive community relations, coordinates and develops community activities and services for residents.
    • Responsible for the protection of Resident's Rights and development of mechanisms for their protection.
    • Coordinates admission, transfer and discharge of residents in accordance with Local, State and Federal regulations.
    • Develops, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the staff orientation and development program.
    • Makes rounds throughout the facility, including buildings, grounds and departmental operations to inspect for cleanliness, order, safety, as well as efficient and proper operations.
    • Represents Garden House in community organizations and retains membership in appropriate community associations.
    • Other duties as assigned by the COO.


  • POSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
    • Not less than proficient in the use of computer-based Medical Records, Word Processing and Database/Spreadsheet software.
    • Ability to address staff, residents and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner.
    • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Ability to lead, coordinate, direct, praise and discipline staff as required.


  • WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Work area includes long term residences in a healthcare setting, offices, and outdoor spaces.
    • Subject to an environment where failure to follow safety guidelines and safe work practices may result in exposure to blood borne pathogens, slips, falls, and cuts.


  • PERSONAL OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    • Must be able to speak, read and write the predominant language of the residents, English.
    • Position requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling.
    • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
    • High chance of exposure to human bodily fluids.
    • Working with the elderly requires the need to respect the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all residents.


  • EDUCATION:
    • AT LEAST a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an approved field of study (required)


  • EXPERIENCE:
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience related to the care of the aged.
