Introduction:

Our new retail technologies are fueling an expansion of our business. We are looking to multiply that expansion by making key investments in companies that complement our global business. Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions business strategy group seeks an Executive Director to lead its Global Strategic Investments and Acquisitions team. This position will reside in our newest innovation center that is opening in Dallas, Texas (Frisco) in September 2022.

The Executive Director will create and lead a team focused on identifying and evaluating startup and established companies to invest in or acquire that have products complementary to our products or can help us bring our products to market faster. Our footprint is global, and we look to make investments in the US and in other countries. The role requires the ability to collaborate within our business globally.

We are looking for an experienced and successful strategic investment professional who understands the technology space and can learn the global retail technology market, its key players, and solutions quickly. This position demands a high degree of self-initiative and the ability to develop, implement and manage a successful investment program strategy that will identify, evaluate, negotiate and close strong investment opportunities for our company.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Establish and execute a successful investment/acquisition strategy based on the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
• Create, implement and manage the full investment/acquisition process lifecycle and pipeline: including:
• Target Company Identification
• Deal Creation
• Evaluation of Technology and Intellectual Property
• Business Model Evaluation
• Complete financial assessment and recommendations (modeling, valuation deal structuring)
• Formal due diligence
• Executive Approval Process

Build a network for Toshiba retail with Venture Capital, Private Equity and Investment/Commercial Banking firms and Business Consulting firms for identifying and evaluating startup and established companies to invest in or acquire that have products complementary to our products or can help us bring our products to market faster.

• Create and manage a team of investment professionals to:
  • Execute our Investment Strategy Program
  • Complete the deals
  • Perform market research to identify trends and new investment opportunities
  • Provide support for US-based portfolio investments

Required skills and experience

• Demonstrated history of professional strategic investment success from 15+ years of work experience including 5+ years in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Investment Banking, or Commercial Banking
  • Experience with hardware or software technologies required.
  • Experience with retail technology space a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree. MBA or JD preferred
• Top notch strategic thinking and analytical skills
