The Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) is currently recruiting for an Executive Assistant. This position is the primary point of contact for the AOGCC and provides administrative support to the AOGCC’s three (3) Commissioners. This position is valuable member of the administrative support team and is the primary contact for the AOGCC office and main phone line. This position also maintains the AOGCC files, completes routine correspondence, researches information, coordinates Commissioners travel plans, and maintains the Commissioners schedules.

The AOGCC is an independent, quasi-judicial agency of the State of Alaska that oversees all oil and gas drilling, development and production, reservoir depletion and metering operations in the state of Alaska. The AOGCC is responsible for preventing waste, protecting correlative rights, improving ultimate recovery, and protecting underground freshwater. The AOGCC serves as an adjudicatory forum for resolving certain oil and gas disputes and carries out statutory mandates consistent with the protection of health, safety and the environment.

This position works directly for the three (3) Commissioners and closely with the AOGCC Special Assistant, as well as with a diverse group of professionals including Engineers and Geologists. The future incumbent in this position will have an opportunity to develop knowledge of the Alaskan oil and gas industry and interact with oil and gas industry professionals. Staff of the AOGCC work both remotely and in an office environment.

The AOGCC office is in Downtown Anchorage near the Park Strip, in a single-story building with free, private parking. This position is part of a dynamic group of long-term professional staff who are experienced, knowledgeable and have a high level of dedication to the AOGCC and its mission. The daily work environment requires regular use of a computer, Microsoft Office, effective communication and professional interactions with staff and the public. A typical day includes answering the main phone line, coordinating Commissioner schedules, handling meeting requests for Commissioners and Senior Staff and filing digital correspondence and data reviewed by AOGCC staff.


We are looking for an applicant that has the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail.

  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

  • Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and respond to routine duties as well as a wide range of special requests, meeting deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.

  • Proficiently uses computers, office equipment, software applications (such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat), and databases to accomplish work.

Minimum Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:
One year of experience as a Secretary or Law Office Assistant with the State of Alaska or the equivalent
elsewhere.
OR
Two years of clerical or secretarial experience.
