Job Description: Estimator

Position Type: Full Time, Office (Mon – Fri, 8:00 am – to 5:00 pm)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a position as an Estimator for a Structural Steel Fabricator. Most of this work will be done at the Candidates desk, utilizing a desktop computer and/or hard copies of detail drawings. Computer, Drawing Reading, and Math Skills are essential to the daily tasks of the Candidate. The ideal Candidate would be Dedicated, Detail Oriented, Dependable, Technically Minded, and above all else Willing to Learn. Cives Steel uses industry leading software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office products, Peddinghaus Raptor, SDS/2, and Tekla but due to the unique nature of our work, on-the-job training will be provided to the Candidate. Candidates will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

• Able to read and interpret structural/architectural drawings as well as Specs and analyze all applicable documents.
• Knowledge and experience with Excel and Bluebeam.
• Good communication skills.
• Establish and maintain a good relationship with sub-contractors.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Work under pressure and against deadlines to get the takeoff done.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates should expect to spend approximately six hours per day sitting and working at a computer. The remaining time would be spent walking or standing, with occasional handling of rolls of structural drawings. However, the Candidate may be required to enter the shop from time to time.

Job Prerequisites:

The ideal candidate should have an understanding of math including Basic Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. They must have the ability to read and understand technical documents/drawings from multiple disciplines. They must be focused and detail oriented and willing to learn and perform a variety of tasks, including tasks falling outside their normal scope of work. Experience with structural steel preferred.
