Environmental, Health, Safety and FSMA Director

Responsible to the Company President, the Environmental, Health and Safety Director (EHS Director) is responsible for leadership of a comprehensive organization-wide safety and technical training program, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, and positively guiding ReConserve to high engagement in a strong safety culture. The position is responsible for the design, implementation, and coordination of all programs related to ReConserve’s Safety, Feed Safety, Health, and Environmental compliance. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the ongoing and evolving regulatory programs, including OSHA, FSMA, DOT, EPA, NFPA, Federal, State, and Local standards that impact our manufacturing facilities. Significant travel up to 75% as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, promote and maintain a safe work environment
  • Oversee all environmental, health, feed safety, fire safety, and safety programs, plant and corporate initiatives
  • Ensure that plant General Managers are trained in safety program procedures, fire safety and prevention, feed safety programs, environmental programs, investigation techniques, and OSHA regulations and documentation
  • Lead and effectively communicate environmental, health, feed safety, and safety process and procedure changes
  • Research and communicate regulatory standard changes and industry best-practices that affect safety, security, environmental, and industrial health
  • Lead the development, writing, and administering of safety and security policies and implementing best practices throughout the organization.
  • Oversee DOT compliance
  • Develop and present employee safety, security, industrial health, and environmental training and ensure accurate documentation of employee training for existing and new employees
  • Coordinate and implement safety-related training that includes, maintenance and construction, First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), hazard communication requirements, defensive driving, safety awareness, security awareness, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and other safety-related topics
  • Work with senior management to ensure that all employees understand how their role and safety fits into each department
  • Ensure that employees have the proper safety training, knowledge, and tools to perform their jobs safely and effectively
  • Investigate incidents, lead the identification and remediation of workplace hazards, and lead safety and security improvements; ensures proper recordkeeping is up-to-date in an electronic database
  • Lead an effective audit and survey system that drives safety and security improvements
  • Set safety-related goals, identify and maintain metrics that accurately reflect performance
  • Develop and implement environmental programs that meet Federal, State, and local requirements
  • Ensure hazardous and special wastes are disposed of properly
  • Ensure environmental reporting and recordkeeping are maintained accurately and up-to-date
  • Manages Safety Data Sheets and facilitates communications and access to these files
  • Investigate injuries to ensure claims are accurate
  • Manage the Workers Comp program including claim processing, supporting employees, and return-to-work efforts
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with facility general managers and employees
  • Manage change and communicate effectively
  • Ensure employees follow all safety guidelines and practices. Identify and implement process improvements and cost savings initiatives
  • Partner with external and local organizations and agencies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Oversees the preparation of required information for any notifications to, OSHA, and other agencies as required following employee accidents/injuries
  • Performs other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, or related degree is required
  • Directly related experience may substitute for education
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of safety, fire safety and prevention, accident and loss prevention, safety equipment, training methods, industrial hygiene practices, feed safety and recordkeeping requirements

Valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
