Spray-Tek is an industry leader providing custom spray drying services to leading companies in the world's most quality-conscious industries. In the face of new projects and acquisitions, we are searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team for our PA and NJ facilities.

Role: Environmental Health and Safety Manager (Full-Time)The Environmental Health and Safety Manager reports to the Director of Engineering for assignments, direction and assistance.

Position Summary:

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will lead the planning and coordination of workplace safety and health programs and ensures that we continuously strengthen our culture of safety across our 3 production facilities. The incumbent is regarded as the EHS subject matter expert. The EHS Manager accomplishes the overarching objectives of the role by developing an overarching EHS strategy, which would include structured processes, routines, and templates; identifying and remediating hazards and risks; and influencing across multiple functions from Production, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, and Information Technology to achieve results.

The EHS Manager reports to the Director of Operations. The role partners with the Plant Management from our Middlesex, NJ. Bethlehem, PA and Beloit, WI locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Developed and implemented a site safety program
  • Continuously improved health and safety programs, as measured through reductions in Lost Time Injury Rates (LTIR) or Recordable Injuries and/or successful completion of internal or external audits
  • Partnered with Management in: Operations on incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action identification; Human Resources (HR) on workers compensation cases to achieve positive outcomes, such as helping to identify reasonable workplace accommodations or resolution of claims
  • Supported the physical security of a site through programmatic and tactical tools, especially in an environment with a large number of team members, vendors, and guests on-site at any given time
  • Help lead an emergency or business continuity response and planning team; and
  • Ensured site compliance with applicable company and regulatory environmental-related requirements and policies.

Our ideal candidate possesses a pragmatic mindset, understanding that the effectiveness of any EHS Manager program is dependent on the adoption of and engagement from senior leaders to line operators. To that end, the EHS Manager proactively seeks well-balanced, practical solutions that can be implemented and complied with by team members, weighing value creation, mitigation of risks, and compliance.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and five years of experience or training in safety management, industrial safety, engineering or experience in a closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other health and safety regulatory framework
  • Experience with interpreting regulatory materials, quality standards, and operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Experience providing operations safety support for an operational manufacturing facility in a GMP regulated plant
  • The ability to travel 25% of the time
  • The role is an on-site role that affords a flex schedule given varying business needs across our three shift, 24/7 operations
