Job description
This position supports SRNS Environmental Bioassay Laboratory. This laboratory provides radio bioassay, environmental, and industrial hygiene analytical services to support SRS missions.
Work from standard procedures with some direction from experienced technical staff
Perform laboratory functions such as hands on sample analysis of a variety of matrices including but not limited to urine, fecal, animal tissues, soil, and water.
Operate and maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and instrumentation
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation
Work with hazardous chemicals (acids, bases, low-level radioactive materials)
Maintain supply inventories
May work in ventilated hoods. Use computer to log and report sample results.
Perform administrative functions such as reading and understanding all training materials
May work in radioactive environment requiring the use of protective clothing.
Other duties as assigned by supervision.

Basic Education Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential. Candidates must have completed ACT WorkKeys Skills Assessment and achieved a minimum score of: -2 in Workplace Observation, -3 in Applied Math, -4 in Locating Information OR 3 in Graphic Literacy (Graphic Literacy replaced Locating Information on October 1, 2017), and -4 in Reading for Information OR 4 in Workplace Documents (Workplace Documents replaced Reading for Information on October 1, 2017). Test scores must be within the last five years. (Official documentation must be provided to the company for consideration of employment. Results must be uploaded into BrassRing on the ATTACHMENTS page at the time the application is submitted online).

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related field or at least 2 semesters of technical school or college Chemistry
Experience working in a laboratory environment. Work with hazardous or radioactive materials is desirable.
