Position Title: Enterprise Database Administrator I

Position Purpose:

This position assists with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise database management systems that support Basin Electric's core business and subsidiary operations. This position works primarily with entry-level database systems under the guidance of more experienced database administrators. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may involve physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

Qualifications:

This position requires a basic understanding of operating systems, database management systems and structured query language usually acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field; OR a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and four years of experience in database system, network administration, application development or similar information technology related experience. The incumbent must have good customer service skills and the ability to effectively research and resolve problems. This position is required to be on-call on a rotational basis. This position also requires travel up to 5% of the time.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Some travel may be required.
