Qualifications:
    Valid Washington State certificate appropriate for the assignment
    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Master's preferred
    Successful teaching experience in middle and/or high school is preferred
    Willingness to participate in staff development courses aligned with the school and district initiatives
    Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques which are used to maximize student learning
    Willingness and desire to collaborate with assigned PLC
    Proven ability to provide an instructional program for students geared to meet their individual needs at their instructional level
    Willingness to communicate with parents
    Willingness to work closely with instructional committees to research, plan, and implement innovative ways to improve student learning
    Understanding of and experience using research-based instructional practices for EL students
    Knowledge of special needs applications to diverse linguistic populations
    Experience working successfully with diverse cultural groups, especially Russian, Hispanic, and Southeast Asian families
    Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse
    Understanding of cross-cultural and acculturation issues
    Ability to coordinate a vision and sense of direction for the EL program
    Experience and knowledge of high educational standards while working with diverse linguistic populations
    Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning, and instructional tool
    Willingness to participate in staff development courses aligned with the school and district initiatives

Essential Functions:

    Infuses contextual learning opportunities into subject area
    Designs learning experiences and assessments that allow students to demonstrate applied skills
    Quickly learns and infuses emerging technologies into teaching, learning, and assessment
    Works as an enthusiastic part of a learning-centered environment believing that each student can learn
    Uses the PLC process to improve instruction, learning, and assessment
    Maintains effective, positive classroom management
    Provide instruction to EL students
    Maintain the EL compliance files at the school site
    Supports teachers of EL students in a variety of settings and content areas through demonstration teaching, coaching, and professional development Supports the integration of State Language Proficiency Level Standards to shelter and scaffold student instruction
    Works with diverse linguistic populations using legal guidelines and parameters
    Assesses English language proficiency utilizing identification procedures Works collaboratively with educators across the district and functions in a team-oriented setting Works with diverse linguistic populations using high educational standards Assists with program design modification, monitoring and scheduling Coordinates curriculum development appropriate for second language learners
    Actively engage students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities
    Works in a flexible and cooperative manner
    Treats co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times
    Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students
    Maintains regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location and the Comprehensive Professional Agreement to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
    Supervision of students
    Other duties as assigned

Benefits/Compensation:
Salary range (includes Base & TRI): $57,409 - $108,208 (commensurate upon degree, credits and experience)
Additional compensation could include extra pay for the following:
    Extra Appendix E supplemental day(s) (for applicable positions only)
