Engineering Technician - Construction Services

GTEC, LLC is seeking a Construction Engineering Technician. The individual will assist in performing field and laboratory testing and inspection of aggregates, soils, concrete, asphalt, steel, and masonry materials.

Qualified candidates must have over 1 year of relevant experience, High School diploma, Capability of lifting 40-50 lbs. Current ACI and Nuclear Safety Certification are preferred. This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. The successful candidate must meet the requirements of GTEC’s Substance Policy, Fleet Management Program, and Reference Check Program.

Typical assignments and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Review of civil, architectural, and structural plans and specifications in preparation for field site visits and observations.
  • Documentation of field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications.
  • Testing and inspection of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, steel, and masonry.
  • Effective Communication of field and laboratory observations and testing results with the construction team.
  • An understanding of professionalism, in relation to interaction with all members of the design and construction team, including (but not limited to) site laborers, project owners, site superintendents, architects, design engineers, and project managers.
  • Willingness to obtain certifications in the fields of soil, concrete, aggregate, asphalt, steel, and masonry, required.
  • Willingness to travel out-of-town (and overnight) for short-duration assignments.
  • Ability to routinely lift ~50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment) required.
  • Meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements, Substance Policy, and Reference Check
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work and maneuver equipment (such as a loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven ground and around active construction sites.
