Typical Pay Range: 33.65 to 43.27 hourly

The Engineering Technician (LiDar) will support Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific Reverse Engineering Science and Technology for Obsolescence, Repair and Evaluation (RESTORE) Laboratory. The proposed effort is to provide for the development and update of related technical documentation and configuration documentation associated with US Navy and other military commands, components and systems, to include ongoing data collection efforts achieved through the extensive usage of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and 3-D modeling software Fleet-wide. This position can involve extensive travel CONUS/OCONUS. Position will initially be part-time but will develop into a full-time position.

• Assist and perform 3D data collection of military assets using laser-based area and hand held scanners, photogrammetry and thermal imaging.
• Assist in preparing engineering related documents to include proofreading/editing, data collection, research & analysis, database input, compiling and organizing data for processing, initiation & development
• Required to review and interpret technical models, manuals, drawings and documentation to support site surveys, damage analysis and comparison against historical baselines and configurations.
• Must be able to work in confined, industrial and marine environments.
• Will be required to work within DoD database systems for retrieval and archival of LiDAR and technical data as ships and shore sites are scanned and assessed.

• B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited university desired but not required.
• Certifications/experience related to data collection/input working within database systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications is desirable; Excel, Word, Power Point.
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain or reestablish this level of clearance.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills.
• U.S. Citizenship status required.
• Have/maintain travel passport.

Desired Skills:

• Proficient with the use of MS Office.
• Experience working with and reporting to military/civilian personnel of varying ranks.
• This position will require working closely with engineers and technicians of various disciplines supporting leading edge technology up to and including ongoing engineering support in a Virtual Reality (VR) and Augment Reality (AR) environment. This work is currently on a long term and stable contract with the U.S. Navy.
