SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Engineering Operations Desk is responsible for managing the flow of information between the CETC dispatchers and Engineering employees and managers. The position ensures a smooth, accurate interface between Engineering field employees and dispatchers and that work scope goes according to plan.


The position also manages the documentation of infrastructure asset failures, coordinates and facilitates compliance with track outage schedules, provides information used to reassign work gangs at the direction of workforce leadership when deviations from the established plan occur,

compiles and distributes daily variance reports and analyzes asset failure and other incident data to provide Engineering management with comprehensive daily reports


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Be a point of contact between the CETC Dispatchers and the IMCS department for related infrastructure failures
  • Capture records of infrastructure related incidents not currently captured through the C&S Trouble Desk or Power Director.
  • Associate all infrastructure failures to discrete assets using Maximo, with a defined problem, cause, and remedy.
  • Mine delay reporting systems to associate specific delays to each incident.
  • Compile daily reports to track planned productivity vs. actual productivity.
  • Understand and manage all paths of incident information to record every infrastructure failure in one database.
  • Create Maximo work orders as specified by Engineering managers for gangs to perform capital, reimbursable and corrective maintenance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated work experience in railroad engineering management systems (or related field)
  • Demonstrated understanding of railroad operations.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated work experience in railroad Communications and Signals (C&S) or Electric Traction disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, summarize and analyze operational information

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills


The salary/hourly range is $81,410 - $105,510. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.


In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for public transportation ( Title 6 U.S.C. § 1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
