Position Focus:

To assist PMC in developing and implementing new technology applications and to launch new products; to contribute to continuous improvement innovations throughout PMC's quality systems to ensure total customer satisfaction; and, to provide experiential learning for the student and assessment of future potential resources for PMC.

Main Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, building and sampling of new injection molds and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct Design of Experiments (DOEs) on new processes and technologies.
  • Gather and analyze data on new process/new technology implementations, and present findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in the project management of new product. These activities include participating in tool design meetings and trials, project schedule monitoring, creating and managing Gantt charting, customer and vendor communications, and related activities in support of project management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects on existing systems and applications, analyzing manufacturing processes and implementing and improving process efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with customers and vendors about product specifications to assist project management in obtaining customer satisfaction on PMC manufactured products.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in studies and making good progress toward a BS in Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Polymers, Plastics Technology or Manufacturing Engineering or directly related engineering major. Must have completed at least first semester sophomore level in the engineering program.
  • Literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Good verbal and writing skills.
  • Literacy in CAD (SolidWorks, Auto-CAD, Unigraphics, Pro-Engineer, as examples) is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of part drawings/prints and dimensioning lay-outs is preferred.
