Position Summary
Solar Engineers may be responsible for such things as reviewing and assessing solar construction documentation; tracking and monitoring project documentation; evaluating construction and operational issues; meeting with other engineers, site hosts, developers, and investor/owners to present and review project operations, compliance and maintenance /repair matters; participating in industry forums; and possibly even dealing with clients directly. One general requirement for most solar engineering positions is a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, and an understanding of a range of engineering concepts (such as site operations, assessment, analysis, and design, and energy optimization).

Travel Requirements: Frequent travel regionally to meet service-level requirements, operational needs and for required business meetings. Ideally, candidates will reside in the Albany area.

Essential Duties & Approximate Commitment of Time

1. Management and support of large scale commercial & Industrial (C&I) PV systems and battery storage systems (BESS) including all preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and operations; Frequent project site visits as well as remote troubleshooting/analysis via smart software platforms.

2. PV site analysis, asset management, technical drawings/construction assessments, project management and system optimization.

3. Ensures consistency of outputs such as complex data analysis and report generation, against the QE Solar standards and in accordance with client(s) requirements.

4. Presentation and report development using technologies such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Python, cloud-based CRM systems, etc.

5. Regularly interacts with company management and customers.

Position Requirements

Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar course of study.

Experience Required:
0-3+ years of service industry project management experience

Experience Preferred:
0-2 years of solar & BESS experience

Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications Preferred:

Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical diagrams, project design drawings and other architectural plans/construction documents.
Proficiency using electrical measurement tools (e.g. multimeters) and product/software program interfaces.

Functional Knowledge:
Familiarity with power systems (e.g. 600v-1500v DC systems) preferred; Familiarity with troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to computer networks and data acquisition systems.
Company/Industry Related Knowledge:
Renewable energy, especially solar and/or photovoltaic systems experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
Ability to move safely over uneven terrain
Ability to sit or drive for prolonged periods
Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 50 pounds
Ability to work in extreme weather
