This Assistant Vice President of Innovation (AVP) leads and grows the innovation function at KenCrest with a primary focus on solutions that enhance the independence of the individuals we serve. The AVP inspires and supports the execution of complex innovations across the agency though the Smart House and Enabling Technology department. Through development of project plans, the sponsorship of those plans, the supervision of staff hired for innovations. As an independent thinker and team player, this role is instrumental in the development of the routines and rituals needed to take an innovation fully into operations including budgets, charge capture and performance metrics. This will include working with state and government liaisons to help build services and identify potential grants to assist with new tech and programs. This role should have strong inter-leadership communication experience, as they will work with the other senior services leaders and executive directors to engage in brainstorming and other creative approaches to inspire NBIs, grant applications and concepts to pitch to donors.

The AVP is a change agent who drives toward aligning work with technology in some areas and how to expand services to additional areas and clients. The person ideally suited for this role must keep security and HIPAA in mind and have experience with assisted technology in order to help bring forth ideas of how we can use it to enhance lives of clients, especially to reduce the presence of staff in their lives and promote more independence.

This role is a hybrid role; while mostly standard Monday through Friday and Work from Home there are virtual meetings and in-office requirements when meetings dictate. In addition, expected travel to meetings with government officials or other entities to discuss grants/funding. Some occasional travel to client homes and programs to get a better understanding of their needs is to be expected as well.

Some Essential Functions of Position:
  • Mobilize leaders when there is common interest and need for new approaches
  • Enable others to act by using approaches which are leader-leader based and collaborative
  • Evaluate annual operating plans and set targets for stretch goals
  • Critically assess performance Enabling Tech and Innovation business units
  • Identify key performance indicators both leading and lagging for Enabling Tech and Innovation
  • Collaborate with the innovation and enabling tech community to establish and define innovation opportunities
  • Explore, advocate and partner with external parties to advance innovation funding
  • Influence the KenCrest team and other public stakeholders to take innovation from a nascent start up to an established, ongoing practice everywhere
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for innovation projects
  • Work with the business leader to develop project plans or charters
  • Pull in agency resources to keep plans on time and on budget
  • Work with Executive Directors to align measurement, routines and practices for ongoing performance management
  • Work with the Director of Business Planning and Analysis to advance the internal NBI process
  • Serve as a sounding board for innovation ideas, collaborating with other senior staff to inspire creativity
  • Uncover and support alignment of new ideas to promote active learning, collaboration and speedy advancement
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or human service-related field required
  • Assisted technology experience required
  • Ten or more years of experience across multiple service lines including fee for service and managed care preferred
  • Program leadership experience in at least two models of service including supports for living preferred; must be able to understand the social dynamics of home and community-based services.
  • Knowledge of the revenue cycle challenges of multiple types of services, place based and outpatient/professional.
  • Knowledge of state Developmental Disability and managed care funding systems.
  • Leadership skills including a Strategic Mindset, Drives Vision and Purpose, Demonstrates Self-Awareness and Manages Conflict.
