The Employment Consultant with the Employment Services (ES) Department will be responsible for managing a caseload of individuals that are seeking competitive and integrated employment. Employment Consultants work to ensure that all individuals on their caseload have individualized planning and supports that address the type of employment they wish to pursue, including accommodations if necessary. The Employment Consultant will work with the individual throughout their pre-employment process, job seeking activities, through successful completion of finding and maintaining employment.

  • Maintain a caseload assisting individuals seeking competitive and integrated employment.
    • Assist individual in their pursuit of competitive employment by assisting with career exploration activities ultimately resulting in authoring a Plan of Employment. Utilizing the Plan of Employment to ensure individualized job seeking, job supports, and follow-up supports are provided to each individual that addresses their personal employment goal(s).
    • Assist individuals in pre-employment activities such as providing assistance with applications, resume preparation, interview assistance, and other pre-employment activities, ultimately resulting in authoring a recommendation for pursuit of employment and the supports required for the individual’s success. This recommendation should include individualized strategies for the person’s employment goal(s).
    • Assist individuals with performance of new job tasks, assist with explanation of workplace culture, and outline the employer’s expectations on-site.
    • Ensure a warm handoff of the individual to the job coach once the individual has accepted a job offer. Will also continue to check in weekly with the job coach to assess the need for supports.
    • Advocate on behalf of the individual to ensure that the job coach is an acceptable match for both the individual and employer prior to employment start date.
    • Personally support the individual on their first day of employment at a new work site and provide job coach and Job Coach Supervisor with suggested supports, names of supervisors, and details that will be helpful to the job coach and the individual.
    • May be required to work an extended or modified work schedule when necessary.
  • Focus on community partnerships to include Employers.
    • Develop, maintain, and expand partnerships and collaborative relationships with employers and assessment sites.
    • Work closely with the business developer to provide all individuals with access to Community Based Assessments and individualized job pursuit.
  • Obtain the knowledge and skills required to work seamlessly throughout the various funding sources and understand their role in authorizing services, providing service delivery, etc.
    • Attends and participates in all planning meetings pertaining to the individuals on their caseload and their employment (both through the planning phase and fading of job coaching).
    • Attend and participate in professional development opportunities to acquire the knowledge needed to stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of competitive and integrated employment for individuals with disabilities.
    • Collaborate with all teams within the Employment Services Department.
    • Collaborate with funding partners to facilitate the building of relationships to better understand the roles of the funders and collaborate for innovative ways to meet the needs of the individuals on their caseload.
    • Present a positive attitude and demeanor when working with individuals, co-workers, supervisors, employers, and/or parents or guardians.
    • Responsible for adhering to Employment Services Department documentation guidelines and deadlines.
    • Present an understanding of the documentation requirements for service provision in accordance with funding partners.
    • Serve as an ambassador of the Center for Human Services and the Employment Services Department throughout the agency and community while communicating opportunities, promoting the different services offered by CHS, etc.
    • Understand and promote the department’s core values and vision by demonstrating such in interactions both internally and externally.
    • Accept and willingly carry out special assignments or duties, when requested, as assigned, or directed.
    • Completes training as stated by CHS policy HRD-P-022 – Training.
    • Responsible for promoting a positive Safety Culture is expected and necessary to make CHS a safe place in which to work. Safe work practices and policies for this position shall be reviewed and strictly followed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in related field plus two years of related work experience or combination of education and experience to equal six years will be considered.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous caseworker experience is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills are preferred.
  • Working knowledge of vocational rehabilitation, vocational training services preferred.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS

  • Must obtain Class E driver’s license within 30 days of start date.
  • Must provide proof of personal valid vehicle insurance.
  • TB Assessment and/or requirements.

SHIFTS: (FT 40 hrs.) Mon-Fri: 8am-5pm

PAY RANGE: $21.98-$26.97/hr.
