Description of Work Unit
Colorado State University is a large land-grant research institution employing over 10,000 full and part-time faculty, exempt and non-exempt professionals, classified staff and student employees. The University’s Human Resources Department is led by the Chief Human Resource Officer and has responsibility for wide-ranging activities including, but not limited to: all employee benefits; payroll; compensation; Human Resources service center; recruitment, employment selection and classification for State Classified personnel as well as general oversight of the State Personnel System within the University; employee relations; personnel policy development and interpretation; employee records and personnel action processing; and the human resource management information system (HRIS). The Employee Health and Well-Being Program Coordinator is a newly expanded position in the department of Human Resources. This position works closely with team members of the Human Resources – Benefits unit, campus community and external benefit partners.

We offer a flexible hybrid work environment with rotating in office and remote work.

Position Summary
The Employee Health and Well-Being Program Coordinator is responsible for Human Resources initiatives to achieve overall employee well-being and reports to the Chief Total Rewards Officer. This position provides behavioral health and wellness training/education, while simultaneously promoting Employee Assistance Program services from a third party partner. The primary focus of this position is to assist university employees to achieve their ideal state of well-being whether it be behavioral health focused, health related or financial in nature to promote employee engagement.

The ideal candidate will utilize their licensure and expertise in mental health and wellness programming to guide the creation and delivery of preventative education/ training / assessments / resource creation for CSU employees and/or departments and support crisis intervention. An independently licensed mental health practitioner is required to perform this role; however the primary role is not one of a mental health practitioner, rather a program coordinator whose licensure, knowledge and skills will be critical to lead, create and guide programming. A demonstrated ability to work with a diverse workforce while achieving inclusive excellence is important.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and mental health confidentiality standards for behavior health and other well-being programs/services. The incumbent will possess the ability to be forthright and thoughtful in communication to achieve successful measured outcomes for employee well-being outreach to our campus community.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted mental health practitioner license in the State of Colorado.
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in a mental health field AND five years (post clinical master’s degree) or greater full-time professional mental health experience concentrated in a behavioral health field such as psychology or social work.
  • Quick thinking, reliable, organized, positive, and professional, with demonstrated multi-tasking and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and tactful while proactively analyzing and assessing situations to identify appropriate resolutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in small and large groups in a calm and approachable manner including those circumstances of crisis and triage, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience in developing education/trainings in the employee health and well-being field of which an Employee Assistance Program may have been under your oversight.
  • Proven track record in developing and presenting training sessions to small and large groups.
  • Experience with crisis assessment and brief treatment/referral options.
  • Experience in a social service, clinical, healthcare, related higher-ed position, or insurance environment leading/performing/teaching similar work and/or behavioral related principles.
  • CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional).
  • Experience working in/with higher education governance models and procedures.
  • Demonstrated record of establishing effective collaborative efforts and relationships across an organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

  • Develop, implement and administer all facets of employee health and well-being initiatives of which behavioral health is a crucial intersection for employee overall health and employee engagement. Be a strong collaborator with other benefits unit team members.
  • Keeps abreast of trends in health and well-being and Employee Assistance Program services to elevate the program offerings.
  • Responsibiity for critical incident stress management (CISM) triage of referrals/consultations as requested.
  • Oversee/maintain the services of the Employee Program Assistance partner, reporting analytics and request for proposal and satisfaction of contractual obligations.
  • Keep leadership abreast of service trends to determine effective proactive measures of employee engagement/overall well-being.
  • Maintain explicit confidentiality with records of those employees seeking services under all required compliance mandates.

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate health and well-being and/or Employee Assistance Program workshops to departments, teams and leadership groups through relationship building.
  • Provide confidential services to employees, including outreach, educational and problem-solving support, transition referrals to community Employee Assistance Program and/or insurance providers.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, councils, and committees to identify gaps/needs.
  • Respond to critical incidents by providing behavioral health services and/or referrals as necessary to employees and departments.
  • Serve on the employee consultation teams to receive input regarding concerns and provide outreach.
  • Keep the program website up-to-date with articles, education and services/programs provided.
