Meet Upside:

We created Upside to help communities thrive! Our retail technology uses the sophistication of online retail—profit measurement, attribution, and incrementality—to provide users with more value on their everyday purchases and brick and mortar businesses with new, profitable customers. We've helped millions of users earn 2 to 3 times more cash back than any other product, and tens of thousands of brick and mortar businesses earn measurable profit. Billions of dollars in commerce run through the Upside platform every year, and that value goes directly back to our local retailers, the consumers they serve, and towards important sustainability initiatives. Our mission, values, and commitment to inclusivity guide our team of more than 300 people worldwide, and the quality of our culture is reflected in the impact we've had on communities nationwide. You'll join a Team whose experience hails from places such as Google, Uber, Amazon, Instacart, Capital One, and MasterCard with proven startup executives and venture capitalists.

Upside was named #2 on Deloitte's 2021 list of Fastest Growing 500 Tech Companies and #308 in Inc.'s America's fastest growing private companies of 2022. Upside's Series D funding was raised in March 2022 and led by General Catalyst at a $1.5 billion valuation. Other investors include Bessemer Ventures and Formation8.

About the job:

Here at Upside, we put people first, celebrate diversity, drive innovation, and do good in the communities where we live and work. The Employee Experience Manager will thread all of these together and help champion the development of our employee experience as Upside evolves our approach to hybrid work and a global footprint. You'll help foster a collaborative, highly-engaged, innovative, and inclusive value-based culture as we rapidly scale in the years to come. This role will ensure that we're listening to our people and keeping them connected and engaged through meaningful experiences (remote and onsite), ultimately building pride, a sense of community, and dedication to our mission.

What you'll do:

  • Plan, implement, and host virtual and physical company events and experiences that promotes employee engagement and builds an inclusive and equitable environment for everyone.
  • Facilitate the Upside Culture Committee and other cultural and inclusive communities as needed.
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for external events and partnerships in the communities that we serve.
  • Own the employee recognition program that recognizes our colleagues for their accomplishments and milestones.
  • Partner with our Marketing Team to create, order, maintain, and distribute Upside swag for both new and existing teammates.
  • Partner with other internal teams on various team-related projects and initiatives, as needed.
  • Support ad-hoc requests as they present themselves.

What you need:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role at a rapidly-growing company that shifted their work model to remote-first in recent years.
  • An empathetic disposition - you want people to be heard, appreciated, and recognized, and you don't lose sight of the human aspect of the job.
  • A self-starter demeanor with a bias for action. You can navigate sophisticated problems with some ambiguity.
  • Stellar project management and attention to detail skills, and can balance multiple tasks well. You have the capacity to handle tight deadlines and last-minute changes, adapt quickly, and remain flexible.
  • Experiencing managing an events budget and assessing data/ROI to inform future events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to simplify complex concepts and tell the greater story.
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to travel to our various offices, as needed, throughout the year. Full Covid-19 vaccination status is required to enter all of our Upside offices.
  • On-the-job experience using Slack, GDrive, and Mac operating systems.

The fine print:

  • Location: This role is a hybrid role and required to work from our D.C. headquarters 1 day/week, with higher attendance when there's an event that you're facilitating. Full Covid-19 vaccination is required to work from our Upside offices.
  • Notice to recruiters and placement agencies: This is an in-house search. Please do not submit resumes to any person or email address at Upside. Upside is not liable for, and will not pay, placement fees for candidates submitted by any party or agency other than its approved recruitment partners.

At Upside, we believe that diversity drives innovation. Our differences are what makes us stronger. We're passionate about building a workplace that represents a variety of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. Everyone is welcome here, come join us!
