Responsibilities:
The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator will work Full Time, Days under the leadership and supervision of the Network Director Emergency Management and Incident Command, the Northern/Southern EP Coordinator is responsible for coordination, and support of emergency management functions, specifically the areas of emergency preparedness including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is responsible for assisting in development emergency management policies and procedures at Bassett Healthcare Network locations and all ambulatory settings.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator supports a unified Bassett response to emergency preparedness activities.
  • Responsible for integration of Joint Commission, DNV and other accreditation needs as it relates to Emergency Management.
  • Responsible for NYS DOH grant deliverable requirements.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator plans with local, county, regional, state, and federal response agencies and compliance with regulatory bodies, including membership in Local Emergency Planning Committees throughout the network service area.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator co-chair’s the Emergency Preparedness and Incident Command Teams at respective locations.
  • Reviews Emergency Management requirements and works with members of the leadership team to gain compliance.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator provides support to external organizations and agencies as agreed to by the Network Director of Emergency Preparedness and Incident Command.
  • Assists in building relationships with external partners in Emergency Preparedness including Emergency Management, Fire and EMS, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security (both State and Federal), County and State Public Health, volunteer organizations and others as needed.
  • Responsible for assisting in creation and maintenance of the Continuity of Operations Planning for the Bassett Healthcare network.
  • Responsible for assisting in oversight and coordination of Bassett Healthcare Network Incident Command response.
  • Assists in coordination planning of all Incident Command led events including IT-Go lives’, Hall of Fame Induction Planning and all other events as necessitated by leadership. Communicates planning activities to the Administrative Leadership Team.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator assists in coordinating emergency communications throughout the Bassett Healthcare Network for any emergency notification, including preparedness for weather and planned events.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is responsible for management and coordination of the New York State Health Commerce System as the primary HPN Coordinator for the Medical Center and all subsidiary hospitals.
Qualifications:
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.

Education/Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with Emergency Management or Emergency Preparedness.
  • Associates degree or higher may substitute for 2 years of above.
  • Experience in facilities planning and development is preferred.
Licensure/Certificates:
  • Incident Command System certification level 200 is required within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Basic Disaster Life Support Certification is preferred.
Skills:
  • Ability to assess business operations and make recommendations for workflow improvement.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflicts among line staff, coordinators and customers.
  • Ability to develop and present PowerPoint presentations to communicate plans and concepts to a large audience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in customer service.
  • Must be articulate and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to design and implement intermediate level spreadsheets.
  • Must have full color and depth perception.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and bending required throughout the workday.
  • Some work on evenings, weekends, nights and holidays as necessary to support the organization.
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
  • Moving large cumbersome objects such as blue prints, specifications, charts, drawings and large sets of documents weighing 25-30 lbs. and measuring 36 inches X 48 inches in dimension.
  • Occasionally works in dusty, noisy and dirty environments requiring eye, hearing and respiratory protection.
