Vighter LLC is recruiting EMT's and Paramedics to support state healthcare facilities throughout Arizona. EMT's and Paramedics may serve in temporary, short-term, and long-term positions depending on the needs of the client. Vighter receives requests periodically under client contract as the need arises. When Vighter receives a request, our recruiters contact candidates in our database to confirm availability, willingness, and interest in the position. MISSION

CBPs Office of the Chief Medical Office (OCMO) employs a family medicine model to provide frontline medical care for persons in CBP custody. This model provides a team of medical professionals comprised of physicians, advanced practice providers (e.g., physicians assistants, nurse practitioners) and support staff (e.g., Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, Certified Medical/Nursing Assistants). These contracted medical teams provide basic assessment and medical treatment for persons inCBP custody to include emergency care as needed. OCMO is committed to ensuring a system of care that is ethical, responsible, and accountable through surveillance and monitoring activities that are in place.


BASIC REQUIREMENTS

EMT-Basic will be referred to as an EMT in this PD and distinguished from Paramedic. Specific requirements that differ between the two levels will be specified below, if indicated.


Licensure/Certification:

1. Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as Nationally Registered (NR) EMT or NR Paramedic in the United States or the District of Columbia. Licensure/certification must be maintained current and valid for location where work is performed, and any required education, trainings, continued education to maintain licensure must be completed within the required timeline for completion by the licensing/certifying authority. A temporary licensure/certification will not be accepted.

2. Candidate must not have had any professional licensure/certification withheld, suspended, revoked, or denied, and the candidate must not have surrendered or allowed a licensure/certification to have expired or lapsed because of an investigation or disciplinary action.

3. Candidate must not have been convicted of, pled guilty to, pled nolo contender to, or received probation before judgement for any crime other than a minor traffic violation, the record of which has not been expunged.

4. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification must be from one of the following approved organizations:

a. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers

b. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), if applicable

c. American Red Cross CPR/BLS for the professional rescuer

d. American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED for healthcare providers and professional responders

i. Course components must include Adult, Pediatric, and Infant CPR, Foreign Body Airway Obstruction, and Automatic Defibrillator (AED) proficiency

ii. Applicant/ Employee must be certified upon hire and may also be a certified instructor

iii. BLS must be renewed prior to expiration date, and always kept in an active status

5. Bilingual in English and Spanish encouraged, but not required.


Experience/Knowledge Required
:

1. Must have a minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care as a licensed/certified NR EMT or NR Paramedic in the United States.

2. Experience in detention/correctional or pediatric setting encouraged, but not required.

3. Application of medical principles, clinical procedures, and techniques.

4. Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.

5. Interpersonal skills to develop a rapport with patients and co-workers during which instructional and educational information is presented or shared.

6. Basic safety, infection control, quality assurance, records management, statistical information gathering, etc.

7. Skill in collecting a variety of laboratory samples.

8. Supply requisition procedure and ability to complete requests for equipment repair, maintenance, or replacement if indicated.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs medical history and physical assessment.

2. Determines chief complaint.

3. Performs vital signs electronically and manually, as indicated.

4. Obtains medical histories and completes necessary paperwork on detainees entering the facilities including vital signs (Blood Pressure, Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, Pulse Oximetry), performing manually and electronic as applicable. Any medical concerns, abnormal findings or complaints are referred to a Physician or an Advanced Practice Provider (APP).

5. Knowledge or and ability to apply professional principles, procedures, and techniques for patient care.

6. Initiates and maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply.

7. Works within licensure/certification, Scope of Practice, Guidelines for NR EMT/NR Paramedic, as provided by CBP contracted employer and the certifying authority or agency.

8. Maintains compliance with standard operating procedures and protocols.

9. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy of medical records.

10. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and the system of records management.

11. Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody.

12. Attends general staff meetings and participates with medical quality management initiatives and reviews as applicable.

13. Assures a safe and clean working environment and assists in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste on a regular basis.

14. Completes all annual training as directed.

15. May be required to travel on short notice.

16. May be required to serve at various medical units within sector/region.

17. Flexible scheduling and overtime are optional, as available.

18. Duties will be performed on-site at medical units, which may rotate within a specific region or sector.

19. Assists with medical appointments, medical/mental health emergencies, documenting all care provided, orders received, and/or any referral made.

20. All documentation completed will be signed and dated, and spell checked for accuracy.

21. Ensures any medical orders received or standing orders are implemented.

22. Coordinates healthcare needs of the patient with other staff members or custody as needed, to include referrals to offsite care.

23. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with records management policy, basic records management training, and program policies.

24. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient care.

25. Performs head to toe assessment, documenting findings, and completing any needed treatments within the scope of practice. Refers any urgent needs to a higher level of care if needed.

26. Restocks supplies as needed, assists with maintaining inventory, maintains equipment in proper working order, to include any manufacture recommended preventative maintenance.

27. Participates with general staff meetings during normal duty hours.

28. Coordinates referrals to offsite facilities, performs emergency care if needed.

29. Communicates an end of shift report to the oncoming shift.

30. Participates in Medical Quality Management/Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities or initiatives as needed.

31. Provides emergency care to help stabilize employees or visitors for life, death, loss of sight/limb situations until Emergency Medical Services arrive.

32. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Supervisory Controls:

1. Works under the administrative direction of the Sector Project Manager or in their absence the Sector Program Manager.

2. Works under the clinical supervision and/or direction of a Physician or an APP.

3. In this position, the employee will serve as a contractor to the federal government and does not have any federal authority or rights.


Physical Demands:

1. Able to walk, stand, bend, sit for extended periods, and be able to perform BLS/CPR if needed or ALS (if applicable)

2. Able to reach to retrieve documents or supplies.

3. Able to carry materials and/or file boxes up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis or assist patients into/out of a wheelchair.

4. Must be capable of standing on hard surfaces (cement floors) for long periods of time 5. Must perform the duties in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitation
