Aging and People with Disabilities (APD), part of the Oregon Department of Human Services, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual for an Eligibility Worker/Human Services Specialist 3 in the La Pine office.

YOUR DUTIES AT A GLANCE:
In this position, you will:
  • Determine financial eligibility for Medicaid/Medical Assistance Programs, Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP), Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), and Long-Term Care Services (LTCS).
  • Interview applicants in person, by phone, by email, to gather information needed to assess and determine if there is a need for services and benefits.
  • Provide good customer service by ensuring information provided is given timely and accurately, responses are made in a calm, courteous and respectful manner.
  • You will update narrative report summarizing new information from client and collateral sources.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is conducted in offices and other program sites.
  • Work can require travel, including overnight.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license or other acceptable method of transportation.
WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS(MQ’s):
  • 2 (two) years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients, and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines that are applicable to the client's situation.
  • Any college courses may be substituted for the two years of general experience on a year-for-year basis (45 quarter hours is equivalent to one year of experience).
**Bilingual Spanish language skills are preferred (not required)

  • Experience delivering excellent customer service, demonstrate exceptional communication skills while interacting with the public, coworkers, and managers.
  • Experience explaining and articulating complex laws, rules, and policies in a customer-focused manner, to a non-technical audience.
  • Accuracy and Attention to detail ensuring you have a complete understanding of the task you're working on.
  • Able to accurately complete highly technical, detailed work with the ability to understand client needs and demonstrate compassion.
