Position Description
Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for an Electrician 2 at Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC), in Carson City, Nevada. This is a lead electrician level position under general supervision. The incumbent will perform advanced level trouble shooting on commercial electrical circuits, controls, motor systems, generator equipment and fire alarms. A Nevada F-card fire protection card is required within 6 months of hire date.
The incumbent will also be responsible for installing data and electrical circuits in EMT, Rigid and PVC per Electrical. Incumbent will respond to repair orders; establish priority of repairs; diagnose problems utilizing appropriate tools and test equipment; estimate cost of jobs; acquire materials to complete jobs by contacting vendors and/or completing purchase requisitions; make repairs; document time and material costs for billing purposes.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
