Purpose
The Electrical Trainee will help assist the Lead Electrician on all job sites. All Electrical Trainees must have a trainee card: (https://lni.wa.gov/licensing-permits/electrical/electrical-licensing-exams-education/electrical-trainee)

Essential Job Functions
Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of residential electrical systems
Support and adhere to all safety, operational, and productivity procedures
Use industry-related hand tools and power tools, under supervision
Assist the Lead Electrician with measuring, cutting, bending, threading, and installing wire and electrical cable systems, conduit systems and other wire raceway systems
Assist the Lead Electrician with wires and cables within control centers, distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switch gears, receptacles, switches, etc.
Assist the Lead Electrician to splice and terminate wires at junction points
Clean, gather, and transport materials to Lead Electricians on site
Communicate effectively with Lead Electrician and rest of the team

Work Hours*
This is an exempt position. Work hours to be determined based on the needs of the business. Extended hours and weekends may be required based on the needs of the business.

Competencies*
Must be currently enrolled or working on enrollment in an approved apprenticeship program
Must have a trainee card: (https://lni.wa.gov/licensing-permits/electrical/electrical-licensing-exams-education/electrical-trainee)
Must have knowledge of electrical theory, basic circuits, branch circuits, and specialty systems
Must have knowledge of magnetic induction, three-phase transformers, conductors and wiring methods
Must have the ability to read and understand electrical single line blueprints
Must be familiar with the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
Must have basic knowledge of tools and equipment and how to safely operate
Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and mechanical aptitude

Work Environment*
Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions
May be exposed to extreme and uncomfortable temperatures and/or conditions
Occasionally exposed to wet, snowy, hot, and humid conditions
Subject to dark confined workspaces such as crawl spaces and attics

Physical Demands*
Moderate to heavy working conditions
Must be comfortable with and physically able to safely help lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, bend, crawl and kneel
Must be able to lift 100+ pounds at a time
Must be comfortable climbing 28+ foot extension ladders
Must be comfortable working in small, dark, confined spaces (attics)
Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires
Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration
May encounter moderately loud noise level while in the field

Supervisory Responsibility*
None. All questionable matters are referred to Supervisor.

Travel*
Willing to travel within the following counties: King, Snohomish, Pierce, Thurston, Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson, Island. Occasionally, travel may occur within other counties not listed.
