Electrical Design Engineer Specialist

We are looking for a talented Electrical Design Engineer Specialist to join our team in Arlington, TX. This product focused position tailors electronic systems for Cummins products. People in these positions will configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.

Qualifications

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Investigates electronic application and systems problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results.
• Applies and improves electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modelling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC Integrity.
• Obtains input and negotiates with product and software development teams and delivers control system designs, verified and calibrated software features and builds to product teams.
• Makes decisions in the areas of electronic systems design, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic sub-systems.
• Responsible for review of less-experienced developers/testers’ work to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient design.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required. Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
• Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience (3-4 years) in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred. Previous experience in designing wiring harnesses and engine controllers. Familiarity with switchgears is a plus.
• Knowledgeable of SAE J1939 systems, Modbus, and LON Net Work. Familiarity with Diesel, Natural gas, and Dual fuel engines. Superior electrical and mechanical aptitude.
• Familiarity with Computer-aided drafting (CAD) software like Creo-Schematics, Creo Parametric, Creo-Diagram, and Pro-Cabling is a plus. Must possess strong interpersonal and customer relations and communication skills. Exceptional multi-tasking and organization skills are critical.

Must be willing to travel up to 25%.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
