POSITION TITLE:

Electronic Health Record (EHR) Workflow Standardization / Adoption / Optimization Consultant

POSITION SUMMARY:

Deep Mile provides Change Management, Optimization, Workflow Standardization and Adoption, support for MHS GENESIS, the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) for Military Health System (MHS). EHR Workflow Standardization / Adoption / Optimization Consultant will provide support to senior leadership at Department of Defense (DOD) Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to ensure the sites are equipped to champion the product, provide quality patient care, and propagate the use of the new system. This position is responsible for engaging senior and mid-level leadership both Pre and Post Go-Live to help them understand the rationale behind the new implementation, changes being brought about, changes in clinical workflows in the system and how it is different from the legacy system. The scope of services go beyond the high-level system and requires engagement at the clinical and revenue cycle workflow level. This position is also responsible for guiding and supporting workflow processes, optimization activities, actively monitoring data and performance, identifying, and analyzing improvement opportunities, comparing metrics to industry best practices, development and managing interventions for implementation and measuring the effectiveness of opportunities after implementation. The role will have a focus on all aspects on the EHR, including revenue cycle and all clinical modules.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

At least 50% travel required (within and outside Continental U.S.)

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Provide current workflow assessments at sites by coordinating with customers and stakeholders to design workflows and deliver data collection/diagram artifacts.
  • Identify opportunities for change management in workflow analysis, using comprehensive understanding of revenue cycle and clinical workflows.
  • Participate in regular day-to-day communication with other EHR project teams and work with vendors as well as other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the application workflow build will fit the organizations integration needs.
  • Deliver senior level clinical and revenue cycle expertise and program support for the team to senior and mid-level leadership within the DHA enterprise including MTFs.
  • Communicate complex clinical concepts and content based on extensive clinical and/or revenue cycle experience.
  • Facilitate evidence-based practice and support the team to execute tasks at sites preparing for the deployment and sustainment of Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS.
  • Support the development of electronic documentation solutions that support clinical workflow and practice and align with the current best practice standards.
  • Correlate theoretical knowledge with clinical/revenue cycle and program information to provide end users clinical/revenue cycle services advice to obtain optimal performance from their EHR system.
  • Facilitate system upgrades with new functionality and support documentation, testing, and workflows.
  • Participate in change management regarding fixes and enhancements, to assist staff in adopting new functionality and workflows, and participate in coordination and communication of system updates and changes.
  • Anticipate and identify complex clinical and business processes and informatics issues, monitor and measure risk factors and develop Courses of Action. Communicate risk factors and Courses of Action to informatics leadership and stakeholders. Ensure continuous quality control of processes and deliverables.
  • Effectively use, interpret, apply, and communicate data and information from multiple sources, affecting EHR programs. Data sources include financial reports, clinical and service quality data, human resource data, and external sources. Effectively interpret changes in key indicators and direct key stakeholders in applying information to changes at the MTF level.
  • Develop process improvement processes/performance guidance and standards.
  • Analyze, liaise, and engage working groups to establish interventions for successful outcomes based on metrics.
  • Actively monitor data and performance, identify and analyze improvement opportunities, develop, and manage interventions for implementation and measure the effectiveness of opportunities after implementation.
  • Establish capabilities to share “lessons learned”.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Level degree required. Informatics degree preferred.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of specialized experience with clinical systems adoption.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of specialized experience in supporting Clinical Information System or EHR tools, platforms and data.
  • Significant experience in providing clinical systems adoption services (business and/or clinical components) to senior leadership levels of an organization.
  • Prior experience with analyzing business processes and information management needs of medical organizations.
  • Clinical background and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of various specialized areas of health care management preferred.
  • Prior DOD experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MHS GENESIS and/or Oracle Cerner Millennium preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Must be fluent in verbal and written English and English medical terminology.

US Citizenship Required - Candidate will need to obtain a DoD Public Trust Clearance

Required to travel to local or other non-local locations
