Job description

The Cook is responsible for all aspects of the meal service program at Bright Start Academy. The Cook is also responsible for assuring compliance with state, local, Sanitation, and Accreditation regulations, and Bright Start Academy policies. Works cooperatively with other staff members, management, and ownership of Bright Start Academy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED, and;

• Must be 18 years of age or older, and;

• Ability to pass a background screening, and;

• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or completion within 30 days of hire), and;

• Current Food Handlers Card, Columbia centers only (or completion within 30 days of hire), or;

• Current ServSafe certification.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Prior experience in a child care center preferred.

• Knowledge of health and sanitation guidelines.

• Knowledge of State licensing rules and regulations and Accreditation standards.

• Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition.

• Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being, should the need arise.

• Must be able to manage confidential information.

Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children and families. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions as well as inappropriate emotional expression are not acceptable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.60 - $16.10 per hour
