Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Sinclair, WY is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Analyzer. This position is responsible to maintain, install, calibrate and troubleshoot all Continuous Emissions Monitors (CEMS) and process analyzer equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, all associated sample line and conditioning equipment, wiring, and instrument air equipment located within and around the analyzer structure. Position is accountable to minimize analyzer downtime, and will be asked to cover after-hour and weekend callout responsibilities.

Job Duties

• Ensure successful daily calibration of all components associated with the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System Units.
• Interact with the SWRC Environmental Department to meet their goals and ensure SWRC’s compliance with State and Federal regulations and requirements.
• Understand the relationship between the operation of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System analyzers and Regulatory Agencies (both State and Federal).
• Ensure proper operation of all equipment associated with the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System analyzers and Process analyzer equipment.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, install, and repair all mechanical aspects of the analyzers, sample conditioning, and instrument air systems associated within the scope of the analyzer units.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, install, and repair electrical infrastructure and components, AC and DC associated with the analyzers and building.
• Understand low voltage DC circuits, 5, 7, 12, and 24 volt, using basic and intermediate DC principles.
• Understand AC circuits, associated wiring and components, 12-240 volts, 480 single and 3 phase.
• Understand programmable logic controllers and their functions within the analyzer operation.
• Interact with Operations to meet their needs and concerns associated with the operation of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System and Process Analyzers.
• Ensure continuous communication between analyzer and monitoring equipment and environmental recording and reporting equipment. Assist with troubleshooting of communication equipment when communication is interrupted.
• Follow-through on commitments made to others.
• Create and maintain a well-organized and professional-looking work area.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED). Working towards or possessing a state-issued Journeyman’s or Master’s License. Interpret the national Electric Code successfully. Understand NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety in the Workplace. Experience in Industrial and Commercial Electrical installations for Classification and both digital and analog instrumentation signals. Knowledge of DC principles for low voltage and 24-volt application of instrumentation signals. Possess and maintain a good personal safety record with no injuries. Good computer operation and digital communication skills.
