Position Summary

The scope of the Weatherization program continues to be one of assisting in the achievement of a more helpful dwelling environment and maximum energy conservation for low-income clients.

After the work of the Weatherization Inspector is performed, the client can be assured they have had the most positive and meaningful measures completed to their homes that will ensure they are living in a safer and more energy efficient home. Preference is given to elderly and/or handicapped clients who are determined to be in life or health-threatening situations, the homebound, and those most in need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete home visit for each qualified applicant to determine services required
• Conduct technical tests using specialized equipment to determine health and safety of the home and of the home energy system
• Record results on appropriate forms
• Utilize appropriate local and state Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and national codes in all work performed
• Prepare work write-ups including complete WAP and agency forms itemizing material and labor costs per job
• Maintain current and continuing updated knowledge of all housing and fuel codes and equipment
• Maintain good client relationships, including appropriate conduct on the job
• Keep the job site clean and remove debris after each job completion
• Attend training as necessary to upgrade skills and attain required certifications
• Perform any and all tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Preferred; specialization in carpentry and written skills is necessary to produce work write- ups. Current QCI certification is a plus and will be required for continued employment in the position. Computer knowledge is a plus.
