In this role, you will provide consultation on leadership, proactive equity, and antiracism practices for staff doing work related to facilities maintenance, finance, contracts, and data reports. You will work with senior leaders in connecting proactive equity and antiracism to everyday actions. You will work directly on projects implementing proactive equity antiracism strategies in the areas of leadership development, planning, disability access, relational partnering, and belonging. The work you do will have a key influence on the overall strategy for implementing the statewide PEAR Plan (Download PDF reader) and Executive Order 22-04 (Download PDF reader). You’ll serve as a PEAR Plan subject matter expert and PEAR Plan consultant engaging in work to that helps people transform their lives.


Some of your major responsibilities:
  • Develop, design, and deliver structures, processes, programs, and supports to address issues related to PEAR, disability justice, and belonging in the agency's operations, programs, policies, practices, and workplace culture.
  • Actively engage in PEAR Consultant matrix collaborative team structure including the PEAR Consultant coaching model.
  • Understand the fundamental principles of proactive equity, anti-racism, social justice, and leadership and apply this understanding to your role as a senior leadership consultant.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and professional consultation on business service lines, and best practices for embedding proactive equity and antiracism.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the overall implementation of a leadership development program.
  • Manage communication needs for PEAR within assigned areas. This includes developing presentations, reports, briefings, executive summaries, white papers, talking points, and other communications.
  • Engage in continuous learning related to the PEAR initiative, the general field of EDAI, and how it relates to human services and public services.
Our ideal applicant will have experience in EDAI, leadership development, and strategy with the proven ability to manage a high volume of work with competing priorities and the ability to communicate effectively across an array of teams and workgroups.

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four or more combined years of professional paid or volunteer experience in any combination of the following areas:
    • Management, leadership, leadership development.
    • Public service, human services, policy analysis, policy development.
    • Strategic planning, continuous improvement, organizational development, and change management.
    • Equity diversity and inclusion, Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, access planning, universal access, disability justice policy and practice, anti-racism policy and practice, and social justice.
  • Education Substitution: Additional experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years. One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units).

  • Understanding of proactive equity, anti-racism, and social justice. Able to apply this to public and human services work settings and leadership development.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience with strategic plan implementation and/or project management and planning.
  • Critical thinking and analysis skills. Ability to understand and interpret complex issues and provide professional consultation on complex issues.
  • Leadership, coaching, and mentoring expertise. Knowledgeable of leadership theory and best practices. Ability to develop leadership skills in others as well as identify and coach toward leadership behaviors aligned with the principles of inclusion, proactive equity, anti-racism, and belonging.
  • Skillful facilitation and advanced level of professional communication skills.
  • Able to work as both an independent professional subject matter expert and member of a highly collaborative matrixed team environment requiring effective collaboration with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a manner that reflects the principles of proactive equity, anti-racism, access, and belonging.
  • Possess a professional EDI certification or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
