Job description

The Documentation Specialist/Technical Writer will be responsible for the following tasks, as necessary, to complete work assigned by the Department’s Contract Manager:

1) Document policies and procedures for all aspects of IT operations.

2) Develop templates for key artifacts to demonstrate compliance with policies and procedure controls.

3) Develop guides and training materials.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the computer sciences fields, management information systems, English or Journalism or ten (10) Years technical writing experience documenting large complex systems and five (5) Years documenting (Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Methodologies.

Required Experience

  • Ten (10) years or more technical writing experience documenting large complex systems
  • Five (5) years or more documenting SDLC and Agile Methodologies Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Proficient in the English language

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSC-Certified Microsoft Office Specialist

Primary Job Duties/ Tasks

The submitted candidate must be able to perform the following duties and/or tasks:

  • Translating technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences.
  • Interviewing subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization.
  • Working with the Functional Team, to produce a wide variety of technical and functional publications to support the upcoming SailPoint IdentityIQ deployment.
  • Researching information such as existing Policies, Procedures, Methods and Practices to identify and draft potential changes to accommodate the new SailPoint IdentityIQ system

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • The submitted candidate must be able to apply specific knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of translating technical information into functional documentation for training and communicating change to the business offices.
  • Knowledge of document templates, such as standardized templates for Departmental Policies, Procedures, and Methods and Practices.
  • Must have the skills to gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.
  • Must have strong organizational and project management skills and excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to display professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $50.00 per hour
