    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary/Objective: The School Psychologist supports students academically, socially-emotionally and behaviorally.

    Essential Job Functions:
    Intervention:

    • Collaborate with teachers, parents and administrators to find effective solutions to academic and behavioral struggles
      • Has background in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
      • Conduct classroom observations to gather information and provide recommendations
      • Participate on MTSS committees
      • Participate in the development, management, and implementation of behavior plans as well as in the completion of functional behavioral analysis and behavior intervention plans
      • Participate in functional behavior analysis for Manifestation Determination meetings
    • Conduct individual, group, and crisis counseling sessions as appropriate
    • Communicate with and refer to outside agencies, hospitals, or clinics when appropriate
    • Provide crisis intervention and support services when necessary
    Assessment:
    • Screen and evaluate referred students using:
      • Standardized, appropriate instruments
      • Curriculum-based measurements and authentic, classroom-based assessments techniques
      • Review of student progress and response to targeted interventions
      • Observations and appropriate clinical evaluation
    • Write reports which state the evaluation findings and share educational program recommendations
    • Participate as a member of the IEP team contributing evaluation findings, providing recommendations for special education eligibility, and collaborating in the development of students’ educational plan
    • Participate in 504 meetings and implementation when appropriate
    • Additional duties as assigned by the Director for Student Services or designee.

    • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google applications, databases, and intranet and internet usage
    • Strong written and verbal skills
    • Professional demeanor
    • Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
    • High degree of initiative and independent judgment
    • Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public and staff in a personable and professional manner
    • Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude
    • Collaborative, team player with strong interpersonal skills
    Qualifications:
    • Masters Degree or higher in psychology or educational psychology
    • Valid Illinois School Psychologist PEL
    • Prior experience problem-solving with a diverse group of students and staff
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and current auto insurance
    • Bilingual (Spanish and/or Polish) preferred
    Equipment
    • Use of standard office equipment, such as computers and copiers is required.
    Hours and Wages: Per teacher contract.

    Supervisory Responsibility: None.

    Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
    • Works in office and school building environments.
    • Ability to lift 20 pounds
    • Caring for children can be physically demanding. School staff may be lifting and carrying children and equipment, and may spend time sitting on the floor or child sized furniture.
    • Physical demands require the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, walk around the classroom and kneel upwards of 60% of the day.
    • May be required to physically manage a student after completing training.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are per the teacher contract.

    Travel Requirements: Occiaisional Travel to District office is required.
