Use proprietary software systems to accurately maintain data and determine forecasted customer demand. Schedule customer deliveries to avoid service interruptions at the lowest cost with the greatest utilization of assets and payloads. Identify and resolve customer and location issues. Collaborate with Transport, Distribution, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to regularly evaluate the most efficient methods to manage customer demand and location resources. Maintain and communicate customer and operation notes for the night team.

Responsibilities

As a Distribution Planner, you will oversee the bulk scheduling of liquefied gases (such as oxygen, nitrogen, or carbon dioxide) for a geographic region in North America.  In this highly visible team leadership role, you’ll serve as the main point of contact for customer operations, coordinate scheduling and dispatching, and monitor customer product inventory levels daily via systems used at the National Operations Center in Stewartsville, NJ.

Day-to-Day Operations:

  • Use proprietary software systems to accurately maintain data and determine forecasted customer demand

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Promote Messer’s safety goals
  • Foster a positive team environment
  • Manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ensure compliance with standard procedures for self and peers
  • Review and analyze internal and external levels of service and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve best practice initiatives
  • Assist in meeting regional sales and profit goals through the delivery of customer service and cost targets
  • Demonstrated capability to handle a complex and broad workload (union locations, specialty customers, plant outages, etc.)
  • Provide peer assistance when issues arise in region
  • Willingness to develop and grow
  • May receive phone calls from overnight coverage team for business support/troubleshooting

Qualifications

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree- preferably in logistics, supply chain management, or business management
  • 3+ years of transportation or dispatch planning experience acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work rotating shift (12-hour daytime shifts, includes weekends and some holidays)

Other:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good math skills
  • Capability of working efficiently with multiple software systems
  • Ability to work in a busy call center environment with changing tasks and a continuous workflow
  • Prior transportation or dispatch experience is a plus
