Summary:

The Gas Distribution Engineer is responsible for working with the Project Managers and Project Teams managing natural gas distribution projects from planning and design through construction and closeout. They will assist different teams of professionals in the execution of this work depending on the stage of the projects. They will work closely and interactively with clients including reporting progress and making forecasts for cost and schedule. The Gas Distribution Engineer works with the Area Manager, the Drafting Team, and the client to ensure that work is being done correctly and in accordance with the client's requirements. They will answer questions and solve problems specific to design. As a mid-level practitioner, they will provide guidance to Engineer I’s and may rely on input from the Area Manager for more technical aspects of their duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop specifications and drawings for assigned projects including design calculations.
• Develop project objectives, estimates and responsibilities by reviewing client requirements, project proposals and plans, and conferring with the Program Director, Project Manager and client representatives.
• Perform conflict analysis, negotiate with local DOT’s and utilities to avoid conflicts, provide permitting support, assist in the development of traffic management plans.
• Develop Bills of Materials and construction cost estimates
• Develop testing, tie-in, and purge procedures
• Provide field support to locate existing facilities, develop base mapping, and provide on-site construction support when necessary
• Work with Project Manager and other team members in developing a comprehensive workflow process, drafting and engineering checklists, and QAQC process.
• Interface with the client to solicit feedback on designs and provide updates on schedules and workload
• Ensure project compliance with appropriate government regulations, safety rules, and company and client policies.
• Participate in meetings to discuss/resolve technical issues with internal staff and clients.
• Assist the Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, and manpower estimates.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in engineering required.

· This position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience as an Associate Engineer or Project Engineer. Experience should include natural gas distribution pipeline or facilities experience.

Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
