We are currently hiring for a Dishwasher & Jr. Sous for Part-Time & Full-Time Positions!

As a member of our front-of-house team, you’ll be a part of creating memorable & enjoyable experiences for our guests during their visit.

The position of Dishwasher & Jr. Sous stands as the backbone of our kitchen! Working with our classically trained culinary team at -14 Below Ice Cream Co. & Cafe and the eventual Y&K International Cuisine & Bar restaurants, you will become part of our whole team by properly and efficiently washing all plate ware, table utensils, glassware, kitchenware, and more for use throughout the establishment. As a Jr. Sous, we offer this as a pathway to becoming a future Sous Chef. This position will be assisting our Executive Chef and his Sous staff with their daily preparations for the day / next day’s meals. This position is responsible for helping unload and stock our kitchen’s walk-in refrigerator, freezer, and pantry areas. Alongside the previously stated duties, you will also be accountable for another aspect of our business by dry washing our daily yield of eggs produced at our pasture-raised egg farm, Chicken & Egg Farm Fresh Eggs (We will train you on how to do this), and assisting in the production of Ice Cream. Once all business of the day has concluded, the Dishwasher / Jr. Sous will join with the rest of the kitchen staff to close out the kitchen - and ready it for the next day. Lastly, you will be a part of the reason why our whole restaurant stands firm and efficient daily time and time again.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Sous Chef & Executive Chef with daily food preparations
  • Assist with the receiving of products/ingredients and stock our walk-in refrigerator, freezer, and kitchen
  • Wash ingredients for use in the kitchen (i.e., vegetables, fruits, etc.)
  • Dry wash & Package all eggs produced daily from our egg farm operation
  • Set Up, operate, and break down commercial dishwashing station
  • Efficiently wash and put away dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans for use
  • Maintain overall appearance/cleanliness of the kitchen and dishwashing area to ensure work gets completed in the most effective way possible
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and utensils are clean and working properly
  • Set up and oversee the status of the establishment beverage rack/dispenser
  • Properly clean and closeout kitchen at the end of day wrap-up
  • Assist with daily production of Ice Cream
  • Maintain all health and safety regulations in all kitchen and dining areas
  • Have a willingness to perform other tasks as assigned by the manager & Executive/Sous Chef(s)
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations as set by our policy & procedure manual
  • Follow all general and company policies and procedures
  • Performs service tasks as directed by Executive/Sous Chef(s) following our policy & procedures manual
  • Must be familiar with property and services provided

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18+ years of age
  • No previous work experience is required, but any restaurant experience is a plus (We will train you regardless!)
  • Must possess great communications skills to effectively speak with team members and/or guests
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Strong work ethic, team focus, and commitment to guest service
  • Additional languages spoken are a plus

REQUIRED LICENSES + VERIFICATION:

  • Must possess/have the ability to obtain a current WA Food Handlers Permit (You can acquire this after you receive a job offer)
  • All candidates must be willing to adhere and give written consent to a standard criminal record background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 60 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and bending without restriction
  • Must have the ability to reach below/above shoulder level continuously
  • Must be able to read and write handwritten notes

Pay: $22 - $25 an Hour / We will negotiate a competitive rate within this range!

(We understand this is a critical position within our business, holds more responsibility, and therefore we offer a higher competitive rate)

*All employees must undergo a 90-day probationary period from orientation start - where we will educate and evaluate your performance throughout to ascertain your fit within our company. A Benefits Package will be granted upon successful completion of 90 day probation period.
