Position Focus:

Reporting to Vice Provost for Research team, the Director/Sr. Director, PSEB will provide scientific and technical expertise on the design and planning for Yale’s new Physical Science & Engineering Building (PSEB) through its detailed design and construction phase.
With a 2029 opening goal, PSEB is intended to facilitate scientific excellence, connecting across physical science and engineering disciplines in ways that transcend traditional departments. As an intellectual hub for Yale’s Quantum Science, Engineering and Materials initiative, PSEB will have dramatically expanded and upgraded core facilities (including a clean room and materials characterization facility) and house dozens of faculty working in Quantum Science, Engineering and Materials from the Departments of Physics, Applied Physics, MEMS and a number of other departments in FAS and SEAS. The highly technical and sophisticated nature of research in quantum science, engineering and materials will require the design and construction of a building of exacting standards and capability.
The Director/Sr. Director will serve as the Provost’s Office point of contact on facility planning and design, and work closely and collaboratively with Yale University’s Office of Facilities, the PSEB Working Group and other key stakeholders, including, faculty, staff and University leadership to shape and guide the technical design and construction of PSEB. The Director/Sr. Director will maximize the transformative impact of PSEB by considering current University needs, future trends, and the likely evolution of quantum research over the greater than thirty year anticipated lifespan of the building.
  • The successful candidate will be hired into the position either as a “Director” or “Senior Director” based on the individual’s level of experience and background. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
