In this role, the Director, Project Management, EPMO will be responsible for the successful integration of newly acquired companies into operation or facilitating the partnership with new collaborative partners to Lantheus. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for establishing repeatable and consistent integration planning and delivery practices, techniques and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of integration planning and execution over time. Among integration projects, the Director will also be responsible to provide project management for other large-scale R&D related projects, including implementation of new technologies, and will partner with R&D to find ways to align the R&D and EPMO project management practices.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Provide expert support and strategic oversight and direction to all functional leads throughout the planning and integration process, developing best practices to incorporate into future projects
  • Establishing a system for overseeing all cross-functional integration projects that enables prioritizing and evaluating progress, outcome and resources utilized to support across the integration project portfolio
  • Support the strategic planning teams where necessary as potential M&A targets are evaluated
  • Develop end-to-end enterprise, cross-functional integration plans enabling achievement of operational synergies, and enable forecasting of appropriate resourcing and budgeting, timelines, and critical dependencies
  • Manage large, complex cross-functional systems integration projects from beginning to end including creating a project governance framework that is “fit-for-purpose” to scope, size and complexity for each integration and the portfolio of ongoing integration projects
  • Partner with and gain senior management alignment around the critical/key success measures and associated leading and lagging indicators to track, manage and report on success of overall integration
  • Actively oversee and track progress against baseline plan, anticipating risk to critical path and/or dependencies and facilitate risk and issue resolution; Measure progress and monitor performance (overall, scope, schedule, costs, quality)
  • Foster strong rapport with business leads and team members to stay current on overall progress, to identify emerging risks, competing priorities and/or to facilitate dialogue around key decisions, risks/issues
  • Encourage and share good practices across teams, anticipate potential collision points, support resolution of workstream challenges and/or ask probing questions to surface unrealized risk or opportunities
  • Lead, motivate, manage and support assigned team members to ensure adherence to process and procedures and to maximize contribution to effectiveness and efficiency
  • Regularly present and report to executive management, senior management, and workstream leads on overall project performance, status against the critical success factors and other key risks or opportunities that emerge
  • Establish consistent and repeatable methodologies, processes and tools for integration planning and deployment
  • Act as primary liaison with IT on integration planning and integration
  • Ensure project objectives are met within the constraints of project scope, time, cost, and quality
  • Resolve conflicts and escalates issues in an effective manner
  • Conduct post project implementation reviews to document lessons learned and provide to organization to update applicable methodology, tools, templates
  • Partner and maintain positive rapport with R&D management and support strategic prioritization of operational projects and technology needs
  • Lead large-scale R&D related projects, where applicable
  • Encourage opportunities for aligning PM practices, tools, and approaches with those used by the EPMO and integrate reporting of R&D projects into the overall project portfolio governance and reporting
  • Actively promotes safety rules and awareness. Demonstrate good safety practices at all times including the appropriate use of protective equipment. Reports and takes initiative to correct safety & environmental hazards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; Masters’ Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years' relevant project/program management experience within the pharmaceutical industry, which may include business development, strategic planning, R&D, operational project/program management
  • Strong understanding of the drug development process to ensure cross-functional connections and operational processes are appropriately and effectively developed and communicated across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and gain alignment in cross-functional and matrix teams.
  • Expertise in establishing cross-functional standards in support of business operations systems, especially as they impact and influence multiple departments and levels of management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English, with an ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to see and communicate a stated vision, understand the strategy and align tactics to the strategy.
  • Strong and effective strategic thinker and problem solver with high degree of emotional intelligence, with the ability to both recognize and anticipate problems.
  • Ability to both recognize and anticipate problems. Possesses the ability to translate solutions into viable action plans at an enterprise level that are effectively disseminated and implemented through cooperation of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and resolving issues, risks, and conflicts
  • Proven ability to operate independently, with minimal direct day-to-day supervision
