The Wine Director oversees the wine program for the Brush Creek Ranch Luxury Collection. He/she will manage a team of Sommeliers and is responsible for purchasing, selling, and managing our wine inventory. He/She is also responsible for guest and staff education as well as executing service in our 5 world-renowned restaurants.

Our wine facilities include a 94-yard tunnel housing 30,000 bottles of wine, many of which are exceedingly rare and highly collectible. We own one of the largest Bordeaux collections in the United States, with a focus on France, Italy, and cult California producers. What you'll do:

  • Plan & execute the wine program for the entire Collection
  • Purchase products for all wine lists across the Collection (wholesale, auctions, private sellers, etc)
  • Drive sales and manage costs to meet specific financial goals
  • Manage and assist a team of Sommeliers to execute wine service during dinner meal periods
  • Assist our food and beverage team with the planning and execution of all wine events or events with a wine component (including tastings and tours)
  • Consult with F&B leadership on training the waitstaff on general wine knowledge and wine service
  • Oversee wine-specific glassware inventory and make purchases accordingly
  • Managing inventory of wine selections and doing BIN/vintage product checks
  • Participate in monthly forecast and P&L meetings

Compensation Structure:

  • $80,000 salary plus commission
  • 1.5% commission at 90% of the monthly incremental wine sales budget, uncapped 2% commission for all sales after hitting 100% of the monthly budget
  • Guaranteed Annual Service Fee: 10% of Salary (prorated based on start date)
  • Annual Financial Bonus: 10% of Salary for hitting sales and financial targets

Qualifications:

  • Sommelier Certificate
  • 3+ years of experience as a lead sommelier or director
  • Extensive experience with purchasing wine from whole sellers, auctions, etc
  • Experience working in hotels/restaurants preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of hotel/restaurant finances including reading P&L reports
  • 3+ years of experience as a people manager
