Job Description


The Director of Risk Management is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of assigned claims and insurance related issues, including, but not limited to, auto and property damage claims, professional liability, employment practices liability, and directors’ & officers’ liability; oversight of policies and procedures and contract databases.

  • The Director of Risk Management reports directly to the President and CEO.
  • Coordinates assigned claims including, but not limited to, auto and property damage claims, professional liability, employment practices liability, and directors & officers’ liability.
  • Prioritizes and monitors claims filed, evaluates insurance coverage, ensures reporting of claims to primary and excess insurance, conducts and/or manages claims audits; evaluates and monitors reserves.
  • Oversees CCC’s certificates of insurance in connection with CCC’s third party agreements; reviews and maintains insurance certificates received from third parties seeking to do business with the CCC; seeks appropriate approvals for the certificates; works with third party to obtain revised certificate of insurance.
  • Evaluates loss runs to ensure adequate reserving of claims at all layers of primary and excess coverage.
  • Tracks claims focusing on exposure, severity, reserves and trial dates.
  • Collects and reviews claims data to identify trends and opportunities for loss control.
  • Supports the investigation of trends and problem areas; logs and reviews all incidents that are investigated to reduce risk, financial loss and to improve care.
  • Aggregates data and prepares appropriate reports to distribute data to executive leadership team; identifies trends experienced in each community, any areas of significant liability and actions taken or recommended to prevent incidents and/or reduce adverse consequences.
  • Serves as a liaison between CCC, third party claims administrator and insurance brokers in all aspects of claims management.
  • Coordinates the insurance broker request for proposal (RFP) process during renewal years.
  • Oversees the database of the system-wide policies and procedures.
  • Organizes and maintains system-wide contract database; monitors renewal notifications.
  • Collaborates with director of clinical services to recommend loss control initiatives.

Qualifications


Required Education:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Paralegal Studies Program.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in business or in field related to insurance or risk management.

Required Experience:

3-5 years’ experience in field related to insurance or risk management.

Preferred Experience:

3-5 years' in a nonprofit environment; Post-acute care, senior living or long-term care sector.

Preferred License and/or Certification:

Registered Nurse and Infection Preventis Certification.

Business travel is a requirement of position; proof of valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. If personal vehicle is used to transport self or others; proof of insurance of $100,000 single limit of liability.
