Director of Parks and Recreation: The City of Radford is seeking a Director to lead our Parks and Recreation Department. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or a related field and have at least 5 years of progressive experience in the administration of recreational programs and in the development of recreational facilities along with heavy supervisory experience. The Director will perform difficult professional and administrative work planning and directing all outdoor and indoor parks and recreation activities for the City, as well as special events such as the July 4th Celebration, Day Camps and Parades. The successful candidates will plan, organize, promote, direct and administer comprehensive City-wide athletic and recreation programs; review, prepare and approve operating budget and expenditures for the department; supervise full-time and part-time staff members in assuring goals and objectives are met for the department. The Director will prepare reports for Recreation Commission review and implementation and will be responsible for developing a 5 year CIP along with researching grants that are available and completing applications. The Director will meet with civic organizations and groups to promote recreational opportunities. The Director must be a member of the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society for networking purposes. The salary range for this position is $65,657 - $103,470.
