Kent Nutrition Group, a member of the Kent Corporation family of companies, is looking an energetic and enthusiastic Director, Marketing Communications responsible for developing and executing consumer marketing strategy and tactics!

This leadership role will determine the marketing strategy and execution for Kent Nutrition Group’s family of brands, and report to the VP, Product and Marketing. It will be critical that this commercial leader fully understand consumer engagement and the ability to activate a consumer at various points in their journey, including content marketing, print, and digital advertising, social media, DTC, and our overall digital customer experience.

This role will require deep marketing knowledge and must bring strategic agility, out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, strong influencing and leadership skills, organization, disciplined communication, a bias for action, and strong interpersonal skills. This position has broad functional responsibility and high visibility to executive-level decision-makers. In addition, the candidate must align cross-organizational teams and associate and connect data points. This role will support the mission to grow net sales and volume and develop best-in-class brands that deliver profitable growth.

  • This opportunity is designed to be on-site in Muscatine, Iowa, however, may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement at the discretion of the hiring manager and applicant qualifications.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive demand generation by connecting, engaging, and developing loyalty with consumers using storytelling, business insights, and data acumen; create consumer preference and engagement through campaigns that deliver specific and measurable KPIs; create consideration and adoption of crucial brands/products.
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns/plans informed by customer and market insights to achieve stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability, and market share, analyzing marketing programs and adjusting strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness.
  • Distill complex business concepts into clear, concise, compelling value propositions, positioning, and messaging.
  • Play leadership role with consumer research to derive qualitative and quantitative insights around consumer motivations, behaviors, and attitudes; manage brand health measurement and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Drive strategic content creation and market execution for B2B, B2C, and DTC growth strategies.
  • Lead or collaborate with cross-functional resources and agencies to execute market programs in areas that may include but are not limited to product development, branding, packaging design, direct mail, advertising, and effective customer/consumer promotions and special events.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team, including nutrition, sales, finance, and operations.
  • Track market trends by working closely with analytics to derive competitive strategy and differentiation
  • Drive re-balancing of priorities to meet market opportunities or unexpected needs.
  • Develop and recommend department operating budgets; review and revise financial reports, and prepare departmental reports.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates the performance of direct reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and agreed upon, given the expansion of the current Marketing organization and the expected growth of the business.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Agriculture Business, or similar. MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in a CPG, agricultural or agency marketing communications role with increasing responsibility, and a proven track record of success
  • 5+ years in a marketing agency role is a significant plus
  • Intellectually curious and a keen observer of people’s behavior
  • Experience with brand strategy/positioning/planning, product commercialization, and consumer marketing across the marketing mix, preferably with a digital-first mindset.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker and efficient doer, able to devise creative, differentiated strategies while closely supporting execution.
  • Excellent internal communications skills and is collaborative, organized, agile, and visionary.
  • Must have outstanding organizational skills and be able to make quick decisions.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to deliver and execute multiple projects at the same time
  • Able to work across departments with a wide variety of personalities
  • Proficient use of Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

TRAVEL:

  • Domestic travel for company, industry, and customer events, approximately 20-25%.
